i agree that "dark" music which is characterized as fluffy here in this thread has been showing promise, and happens to be one of my cuppa teas of recent.
so allow me to pose another question- which artists do you think are walking down this path? We've had lots of general discussion here, would like to hear what artists characterize this sound for you, in your highly subjective sense of course
i hope it doens't offend any named artists or create a useless argument, it is all in the eye of the beholder.....

i think the following acts seem to be evolving their style towards this kind of music. at times ocelot with dream selector and his last track on alien fm 2. para halu seems to be evolving a melodic side as well. then there is furious with his morning project 'delerious noon'. other acts that are worth checking out are reality pixie and hired goonz, their music on va -25th frame is something else!! deja vu fabrique - zolod's (r.i.p.) morning project. there was also darkshire's sideproject braincore but im not too sure whats happening with that.

@ squirm... i have to disagree with you about the last few names you mentioned. Delirious Noon for example was never meant to be considered as a 'darkpsy' project in the first place - this is right from Kolya's mouth. Its more like morning music itself, even though its fluffy it isn't dark trance that has become fluffy..same goes with the rest of those acts.
But with regard to Para Halu etc. i must agree..true

Can Dark Trance become Fluffy?
Yes, I've found the perfect place for it
Outside the toilets
With samples such as:
Hurry up
I'm bursting |

I don't think that "dark" is a good way of describing night time/full power psy.
Why dark? Cuz someone that listens to other kind of music was scared from it? And he/she put the name dark? Evil? If full on producers can use "light" samples in their tracks, why shouldn't we be able to use more agressive samples?
Every artist has his own vision, the fact that some use melodies and others use just noise, doesn't mean the feeling is lost.
Fallen Angel, you are ignorant.

I agree. I think it is "us" listeners that categorizes the music in genres mostly and not the artists themself, or am I wrong? Have seen/heard some artists been called "this or that" but the artists themself disagree with the "audience" since they not consider their music "dark" or whatever it might be called... |

@ galaxian if YOU are full of tension....smoke or chill... or better.. do both...it will help understand the beauty of real psychadelia and mind exploration rather than just smile or dance!
dark is just a name (stupid) given by people (stupid) who need it!
ciao! |

Fluffy dark? That exists already and it's called forest music...
Seriously now... I wouldn't label something fluffy dark-psy, i would label it whatever it fits in most, and otherwise i would label it suomi soundi.
People label music to describe it, only formulaic music really fits inside a label, and if it sounds for example like dark psy but with some acid- or trance-melodies i'd use the dark psy label and the old school label to describe it... |
