calling artists for...psybreaks?

hello all, wondering if anyone here produces or spins psychedelic breakbeats? if you have any tracks lying around, could you send me some tracks? im just professing my love for the breakbeat sound, wondering if anyone here likes breaks as well? ive been spinning more breaks than psytrance these days, but i find the nuskool scene, although getting better, is not quite psychedelic enough in general, although there are great tracks, and solid artists, there are no consistent, trippy releases... i am aware of all the older stuff, 21-3, blue room, exogenic ticons' break my heart track, the broken compilation (which didnt quite capture the sound i was hoping for)

...but what about some new stuff?

we need more psybreaks, not the downtempo or DnB variety, but full on, uptempo 140bpm hard psychedelic breakbeats!! .there is soooo much potential for a psybreaks movement! broken beats can also get you into a trance like state if you dance to it, and there is potential for so much variety, even just in the drum programming...if you are not familiar with breaks, check out artists like AMB, introspective, deviant electronics, s.o.t.e.g. acid rockers, autobots...anyway i want to hear trippy, hard, and funky breaks! i know there was an ex user on this forum who now produces breakbeats on a popular uk label..and that half of necton now produces breakbeats as Rhoca..anyone else here experimenting?

here are samples of sounds i stuff almost like what i would like to hear more of, only i want it better, faster, more psychedelic tho...

hello dude,
i produce many styles, and psy breakbeats is one of my favourites. i'm an electronic music freak, and always happy to see psy musicians make some breakbeats time to time.
anyway, i made some tunes you can listen to, they not finished, i mean they finished but on a rush, i wanna rework them but no time cause i busy with other projects and there is no interest for this kind of music on our boring scene.

here u go:

some demo of psybreaks freestyle:

enjoy mate!

Hey bertzerker, I think we are on exactly the same page.

I really miss the sick psychedelic breaks that were being released by TIP, Blue Room, Symbiosis, 21-3 and other ground-breaking labels back in 97-99. I've spent the last 3 or so years delving into breaks from the nu-skool angle and have definitely found a decent amount of material that qualifies as psychedelic breaks. In going through the samples you list, I hear a couple examples of the artist who I find to be the current genius for what there is of the psy-breaks sound:

Introspective

Of all the breaks producers I've heard in the last couple years who are approximating anything like psybreaks, Introspective is the one guy who has hit the nail on the head to a fucking tee. There have been multiple times where I have slyly slipped a couple of his tracks (especially "Time Travel" & "Slavery Inc.") into a more psy-prog set and the crowd 100% ate it up.

SOTEG is also pretty cool - I'm probably a little biased since he is from my home town of Austin, but the guy makes some truely sick grooves.

We really should compare notes sometime.

ND - I like the works you post! There is definitely a lot of promise there. "Shine" and "Nuclear Fission" strike me the most. Please keep at it. While there might not be a lot of demand for the style from labels right now, there is a growing demand amongst DJs and listeners for something with a bit more funk. The labels will eventually catch on - mark my words.

I'm always seeing posts with people complaining that there is no more innovation in psy-trance. I think one innovation that people are fully overlooking is to completely move away from the traditional 4-to-the-floor beat structure. Having a breakbeat underlying psychedelic music gives it a completely new feel and different directions of depth than what you get with the traditional beat structure used in psytrance. Full sets of it are probably too much for people, but working it in at the right points will give a set that unique character which is so lacking nowadays.

We're only missing the producers to make those tracks.

yey! someone here likes breaks too! phew! thought this scene would just turn its nose up and look away..(apparently noone else looked at this thread) it sucks that people stick themselves in corners..its like that in every scene tho. breaks heads 'dont like' trance and vice versa..

krelm, yes we are on the same page. we need to petition the artists here to make more break madness!!! i do get bored (not to mention physically tired) with 4/4 all night long, it would be nice if it were punctuated with a few break tracks..i try to keep my sets a little varied too, but like isaid, there is a lot of closed mindedness in scenes....
p.s.
you should check out luomuhappo's release pogomatic pogomen..he does a lot of weird finnish sounding break/trance tracks..nothing straight broken all the way, but has a lot of breaks segments that are nice (lacking the nice bass you can feel tho)

http://saikosounds.com/english/display_release.asp?id=4320

ND i like your tracks..keep at them..especially the funky sound in atomic heads..a bit slow, but i like it.. nuclear fission is closer to what im thinking, good work!

anyway, hope this thread gets bigger..hehee

My thoughts are that Soul of Man, Elite Force (sHack), Meat Katie, Plump DJs, Christian J, Lee Coombs, Precision Cuts, Dylan Rhymes, Infusion, Madox, Will "PMT/Phalse Prophet" Brummer, EK, Stanton Warriors, Vigi & Nectarios are making slamming psychoactive funk tunes and their tunes have been rocking the airwaves of BBC Radio 1, to 10s of thousands of punters on outdoor festivals, as well as the smallest underground warehouse parties.

I am not really keen on the term "Psybreaks" It's more like a term that will help psy-trancers give breakbeat a chance, simply because it's got the "psy" in front!
Breakbeat has been around for ages.
Some psy-trancers just discovered it and gave it their own name so they can actually get into it, without feeling guilty about getting into another type of music that does not have "psy" in its title

14-year old e-tard, I really dig most of the artists you name. These producers make some damned psychedelic tunes, even if it's purely by accident.

sHack/Elite Force is an absolute genius in my book. I find his music to be quite psychedelic, but more in a really dirty sense. You should check out his album from a year or two back if you haven't - there are some absolute gems on there. "Weekend Whiplash" is still one of my favorites. His track "Melodik-Hypnotik" never leaves my record case and is still one of my favorite emergency tracks to pick up a lagging dancefloor. I guess you tune into his Strongarm Sessions broadcasts?

I think the term "psychedelic breaks" today means not so much a pigeonholed genre - there are very few artists that are purposely making the style on a regular basis (unlike 5-7 years ago). For me, it's more a descriptive term when I run across a breaks track that has a psychedelic feel to it. But if putting the word "psy" in front is what it's going to take for me to hear some nice breaks at parties, then so be it.

BTW, check out the Feuerhake & Okay track on the new Inspirazzia compilation on VP Records - really sweet breaks tune.           -----------------

sorry I was looking for releases.. any of the stuff you linked to releases? I can't listen / download (I'm at work) - I can prob'ly justify it if I'm shopping for music though

I dunno how hard you like it, but Nam Shub of Enki is my favourite break beat artist.
