A well encoded MP3 (such as Beatport's) sounds almost as good as a WAV, you can only tell a little diference on very well equalized big sound system. |

everyone with a bit producing software can test it at home. play the mp3 and wav together and turn over the phase of one of them. if the result is not 100% silence, then there is a difference. i usally hear a lot, mostly sparkle highs. this means there is actually is a huge difference.
i wish i could say something different, would make things easier & cheaper. but its not possible to argue against physical based facts.
for everyone who does not know what i am talking about:
you layer 2 waveforms of the same track above each other but with one waveform turned upside down. this results that both waves negate each other. because every positive value added is instantly reduced on the same value of the upside-down-wave. when you still hear things, this means that both waves are not 100%ly the same and interesstingly you hear exactly the difference of them. means when i hear sparkle highs, this means that this highs are missing in the mp3 .
in a club offcourse, there is so much rumble, nobody would hear the difference. on big systems like modern line-arrays (which sound amazing) you will hear it for sure. so if you are a dj and play on larger outdoor-events you should step over to wav and wav only! even because on the big festivals the soundsystems became a lot better compared to 5-10 years before.
