greetings fellow trancers. Im starting this post because I am curious if anyone is participating in any BUY NOTHING DAY activism on Black Friday.

Here in Florida a few of us are dressing up like zombies and causing a rukus at some stores. Getting up early with all the other shoping zombies. I'll be a Zombie listening to some psytrance in my earphones.

nice thing to do but lets be honest !
- why would you not buy on sale?
thanksgiving is the time to not get ripped off and get things on sale. if we buy nothing why would we pay full price a week later ? you lose more money buying full price, and knowing trancers there days , we roll in designer .at least i do. so even if you try to stop this it is pointless because the whole country will be shopping plus all the tourists wil lbe shopping , so your not hurting business but yourselves

I think not. There are all kinds of things wrong with free market capitalism and the ever-present siren call of corporate speech. Buy Nothing Day is a way of raising awareness about the dominant cultural values that define normative behaviour in our society. Do we really need more stuff? Are material goods the best way to express your feelings about a family member this holiday season? I don't think this event is designed with the idea of shutting the economy down or anything... it is just another avenue through which anti-establishment forces might get people thinking about what so many of us implicitly take for granted. Free market capitalism is not the final system of human social and economic organization unless we let it lay waste to all that remains of this planet.

I am all for it. Just like Kalle Lasn teaches us.
Although, Black Friday is a tough holiday to compete with but we should all try anyway.

i went out to see the madnesss but thankfull was not a part of it..........was a total jungle in NYC!!
it was like ppl had never seen clothes, shoes, things!!!
i sipped a coffee , smoked a ciggie and sat outside H&M smiling at the craziness of it all.
my first black friday and it was spent enjoying looking at how ppl behave.
supposedly there were lines outside stores at 5 am ....and yesterday it was brrrrrrrrrr freezing cold....

I spent my black friday on the opposite end of the cash register taking everyone's money, My store didn't buy into the craziness though, they treated it like any other day. Some people came in appauled that the entire store wasn't on sale, lol.
I don't get black friday, most people are spending 1,000's that they don't have!

For the holidays, I find my loved ones like gifts that are either hand made or something that rekindles a fond memory. It's more sincere.           "It's ALL about the clickety-clack!!!!"-Neuronympho
