This is the title of the new Britney Spears video. The title just sums it all up. Almost all radio and TV music channels are owned by 3-4 companies today.

Their power is so big that no matter what shit they put out there will sell well.

And Britney is the symbol of all this - ME AGAINST THE MUSIC

Music isn't important anymore for the music industry, image and advertisment are replacing music.

The same companies are owning everything, Labels - Radios - TV channels...

And what do people think about this?

there is a team of big companies,''leaders'',and some other bastards ,that their reason for living is money, power on other peoples lives, with no respect for the environment and Mother Earth and Nature, and their purpose is to dissapear anything good from this world...
they wont manage it!
the life if this Evil Empire comes to its end,its bad to say that much bllood will be spilled and the whole world will suffer of this final battle...
we just try to continue what we ve started, our mission of Love and Peace, keep dancing and working with our energy in the Factory of the Alliens, the trance parties and not only,(all underground art movements is part of this factory),so we beat spiritually these butchers...and after the spirits of Good win, these butchers will be vanished from Earth...but,we must get more political, and not only care for music(only),and how to take drugs, but we must have an opinion about what is happening, and condemn this party of bullets, lies and hatred, some are doing in front of our eyes...
i hope Shiva and Mars help us with this very difficult mission we have...           its not a drug...its the holy spirit

But it's getting much worth.
There is virtualy nothing good anymore on "normal" radio, but 10-15 years ago there was still something.

And as somebody once mentionned. If Pink Floyd would start out today they would be lucky to sell 30.000 albums not 30.000.000 . No commercial radio would play them, but they "played " them back then. Because there was still some open space. Not so today.

Maybe I don't understand it - who is actually buying a Britney Spears album?

OA! i love that you have a jpeg for everything! hahaha great work my friend.

i agree with you light, that's why i feel so strongly about "our" genre, it has so much more substance, even what people consider commercial, we are still in very good shape, i have my hopes that we will make it through.

Let me just say that every generation thinks that the music they listen to is "not-sold-out" so to say - as I thought back in the early 90's. And as you grow and the music on the radio changes or your tastes in music change everyone starts to say that everyone is selling out and the music back in the day was better - its not the industry , it is you. This cycle continues and continues - The industry has always been about the things you mentioned.

The only thing that is true is companies are getting fewer and bigger like you said

Yes, but you are taking one of the most commercial bands of those days. ( and back then that wasn't necessairily bad music, the Beatles had some very interesting tunes out)
Even that they were commercial, they still cared a lot about their music.

But there were others who where not commercial and still could make it big, Pink Floyd for ex. ( they have the 3rd most sold album ever to date)

And maybe I am not as young as you think.

Dude every band/performer starts small - (noone just wakes up and gets a big contract) - then once you make it big you are commercial - your a money making product. Period.
Pink Floyd was extreemly commercial - how many bands you know make a Full Legnth Movie???

I know what your saying about Britney - but Im telling you every generation has these money making advertising cheeseball acts. It is NOTHING new. Christ just look at the 70's. It was probably worse then.

Stop taking it so seriosly and concentrate on what you like. I've seen worse titles for tunes in my life.

Anyway, not all comerical artists are doing shite music, take Pink for instance with "feel good time" - a massive tune that I consider to be one of the best non-trance songs I've ever heard, or Madonna's Ray of Light album (although both Pink and Madonna were produced by William Orbit the king), or even some christina aguilerra or Shaqira - the all have also groovy stuff that might be selling shitloads to young teenager girlies (yummy...), but also can be apealling to old geezers like me.

Try to keep an open mind, don't lock yourselves into the concept that popularity equals kitch equals shit. I'm sure many of the small psy-trance artists and labels would love to be in the position where Sony offers them a fat contract...

cheers!           auspexx@compact-records.com

dont get your point. the beatles may not seem comparable with bitchney in our eyes, since we (both ppl that lived in that era, i didnt btw) dont look at it as something for picky teeny girlies as britney. but if u travel back in time, the beatles were something for picky teenies back then (they are probably the first one to start the boygroup hype) and ppl that listened music with so called "higher value" had the same view about them as we have today from britney and so likes. also in beatles concerts back then girls fell in coma at their concerts, screamed their souls out and went crazy in general. in small words: they were the same as britney now, just in another time.

to the phrase "music with higher value" : i dont like it. these industries and musicians we are talking about (britney etc) make ppl smile. they make little children and also some older ones smile, this deserves the same respect as everything else. no music got a higher value than anything else. if i see a concert from her on the tv i'm not angry or think that this sucks or whatever, but i'm happy that there are people enjoying music and their lifes.
respect also means respect to things u dont like!          Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!
