Well, our sublabel was not really set out to be a breaks label, were releasing more experimental stuff on it...

BUT im working on starting a new breaks label in Helsinki at the moment, together with some of the local breaks crew...will post some info here too when we progress!

He He, wanted to drop a word or two on the topic but didn't find the words.
Before i got addicted to Psy i was heavy on breakbeats and D'n'B.
I got shitloads of albums from 95' to 00'. Some of the most important milestones of breaks. Albums like Chemical Brothers' - "Dig your own hole" and "Exit Planet Dust, Crystal Method's debut. All the Skint, Wall Of Sound and Mo Wax gang still rock my world pretty much.
I neglected this style after huge dissapointment from latest from some of my fav. artists like Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim and Crystal Method. But now i started to find very interesting stuff like the Crystal Method's Home Service mix album which is pretty nice, Hybrid, Plump Dj's (Especially their amazing remix to Orbital's Funny Break) really got me back to this style.
Is there anything interesting to look for?
Have you heard 'bout the new U.N.K.L.E album and the new BT one?

The new breakbeats I am into, and talking about for that matter, is stuf from the Plump Djs, Rennie Pilgrem, Uberzone, Silencer, Blim, General MIDI, Timo Mass, Koma & Bones, Vigi, Zero, Breakneck...that sort of stuff. I find that a lot of these breaks have a trancey feel, amongst techno, house, jazz, funk, and every kind of music since breakbeat music is so diverse. There are tunes that you will find a lot of soaring hi-pass leads like the ones in trance tunes and if you think the trance basslines are big, then grab hold of something cause the breaks ones are PHAT as F**K!

This music is fucking superb. THE BASSLINES, THE BASSLINES!!!! I love it and am always glad to hear it at parties (not often enough, unfortunately). Check out Adam Freeland, Freq Nasty, DJ Zinc and any of the Y3K compilations in addition to the stuff you wrote above. Honestly, the basslines in Trance don't even compare, some of this stuff is my favourite at the moment. There have been some total classics as well. Remember BT-Hip Hop Phenomenon, that was one of the coolest nu-skool breaks tracks and it combined elements of trance, progressive and had a huge, fuck-off breaks bassline. B.L.I.M.'s remix work has been some of the best I've heard in recent years as well (Westbam - Beat Box Rocker. BLIM's remix is a contender for best bassline ever) Trance heads should probably check out Hybrid's stuff as a introduction to this stuff maybe?

Try Botchit & Scarper, Bingo Beats etc for labels

What does anyone else think?

btw, bukem and his label have covered most tempos from hiphop to dnb, including breaks (being in-between), on the "earth" series ... somewhat recommended listening (better than his awful album anyway)           http://www.dartrecordings.co.uk/

Another recommendation....

Introspective - Time Travel

recently released on Sinister Recordings. I think this one would damn well qualify as psy-breaks.

Ok, you people made me curious. Is there some site where I can listen to some samples of the best breakbeat artists?

Please name your favourite 2, just to have some idea...

www.nubreaks.com has some full-length realaudio samples in their reviews section. It is also relatively comprehensive in their overall coverage of breaks.

Also, you can go to online stores which often will have 2-5 minute samples from tracks. The two I have found with best samples are:
www.groovetech.com
www.vinyl-addiction.co.uk

As for artists to listen to, just check out all the ones named in this thread. I don't think anybody has mentioned any that suck.
