First you have that killer coconut infested shoreline, with the most imponent and stunning beach chill out EVER, right near an almost utopic Goa stage...
Thats already enough of a psychedelic playground and an unbeatable new year's eve location.
But then you also have the alternative and mainfloor packed with a great selection of serious (no concessions, ye) trance, progressive and eletronic acts. Not to mention the happy nation of european skinburned freaks along the brazilian crowd, the evercold beer and the 1st class organization and attention delivered by the UP crew.
once u experience all that, you're hooked.
it becomes impossible to spend new years eve anywhere else.

Anyone know if it is ok to show up on site a day early (like the 27th)?
Also, do any of the shuttle services from Salvador airport to the festival run early (like the 27th)?

Well last year I arrived late on the 27th and the festival was nearly ram-packed to capacity.
There are a few firms that do the transport that shall be @ salvador airport on that date you mentioned, just ask around.
