I would have expected a bit more from the sound yeH , but it was quite ok. And i wassn't on any drugs.
Well that is if you consider the top quality moroccan hasj a drug eheheh
I must agree though about the food, it wassn't bad at all in my opinion, but very fucking expensive. had to really really cut down on food, because the last days (31/1st) i only had 10 euro's left out of the 220 or something i brough with me to spend.

Chill-out was a bit far a walk, i didn't even knew it was there the first few days hehe, the lake was fucking nice! So was the entire location to be honest. Could havbe been less dusty though.

Haven't seen anyone collapse from the sun, dehydration or drugs.

Boom 2006...i might be there, but 2 years is a long time , so i hope they put a bit more organisation in it for less expensive food (we will eat more lol trust me) and better sound.

As for the line-up it was fucking brilant, didn't expect as much from the music as we got. But allot of dj's an acts really suprised me!

Good that they had a nice flow in music, starting off progressive techy/tribal, off to the trancy or oldskool into the hard full on.

Thanks for all the great reviews guys please keep them coming! I'm trying to vicariously live through you all (yeah fat chance)!

See you at Boom 2006!

P.S. - I listened incessantly to the Boom webstream and have to say that DarkPsy was my favorite! Amazing music he produces totally my style.

Lets start with a short review, in my usual format, maybe in one of the next days I will elaborate more.

Location: A beautiful area near a lake not too far from Idanha-a-Nova, PT. We found a great location for the campsite, hung the IsraTrance flag and started chilling. The place was well organized and managed.

Deco: Very nice, very professional. The dance floor was built with a central dome and around it four smaller domes, each representing an element: water, air, earth and fire. Beautiful dragons and nature also contributed a lot to the beauty of the place.

Sound: Worst ever! They had a system which surrounded the dance floor from all directions, causing a rebounding sound from the mountains that collided with the system’s sound. Moreover, it seemed like the sound system wasn’t balanced properly and so there were very few spots that you could hear the music in a decent quality.

Music: My bad. I came to Boom wanting to hear some good music. I didn’t get that and probably shouldn’t had my hopes set too high. Almost all sets were boring, unprofessional and repetitive. Several good surprises (like D-tector and Tati), several good sets that were expected (James Monroe, Emok). Worst set award goes to Chicago.

People: A lot of good people, a few bad ones. It was great meeting some new people (like ajja the bumping-cars-dancer LOL). I didn’t meet too many new IsraTrancers, though I did walk around with an IsraTrance t-shirt most of the time.

Facilities: About 100 toilets spread around, mostly kept in good state (though the last day was a disaster). Too few showers, but the lake was there. Many restaurants and chai shops, rather expensive and not too amazing. A free internet place and nice markets. Very good crowd control (parking lot, tent areas, etc.)

Personal Highlights: Leaving the festival

My conclusion: I came to the wrong festival.

PS: AFAIK there won't be more boom festivals.

Well, maybe I was a little harsh...

I had fun there, I had good times, but it was like going camping in Portugal for me. It wasn't a trance festival.

I have some good memories I will remember for ever, and meeting ppl was great. Actually, most of the things that were not related to the music and the sound were ok.

This one is kinda to find out what people are doing against this phenomenon that is rapidly growing here in Europe, which once more occured at Boom Festival. The last days hundreds of people have been robbed, by most probably people involved in organized crime. It ´s not a matter of a few people with loose hands no more, it ´s now that far that organized crime is being attracted to these festivals....since they seem to find out that it ´s easy to steal of a bunch of freaks all with their heads up in the sky from dancing, being tired of other well-known reasons. Hundreds of people have been robbed in the festival, including me and many others. Passports, mobile phones, money, expensive clothes, carradio ´s, sunglasses, any sort of electronic gear and even the most rediculous things such as stilts from one of the participating artists got stolen. From staff-area to camping...it didn ´t matter where anymore...anything just not being watched 24/7 was gone within a blink. Me myself got robbed while I was sleeping with a friend....while our stuff was hidden well in the back of the tent under layers of clothes and other stuff...but it didn ´t help. I ´m curious if this phenomenon is showing up elsewhere as well and what people do or think you can do about it. In this case I don ´t mean hearing that everybody should watch their stuff or lock it away...we all know and try that, but not every situation, specially not in the life of a freelance traveller, allows that...so I ´m kinda curious to what people think an organisation such as Boom might possibly be able to do about it. Wishes, ideas....all is welcome here, since for me personally this is the 2nd time I had a lot of stuff stolen in the last 3 years and I ´m really fuckin ´fed up with it......this has got to stop if we don ´t wanna have all our magic fun turn into a complete disaster....and from watching those hundreds of faces at Boom in the moment we left....this has been a disaster to way to many without at doubt !!!           Mind Funk Records

it was the best party of my life! all said.
food was great, line ups were announced daily in the DAILY DRAGON for chill and mainfloor, the sound had some problems but got fixed after the second night, and the music was awsome, diverse, and for everybodys taste. the location is amazing, the people were beautiful, the spirit was there....
i wish it didnt have to end.....ever....
i can imagine living in that spot for a while....
the sad story with the robberies, is truly frustrating, and i hope that the victims will be able to vercome it fast, and remember the good times they had. its frustrating how little can be done about it.
but i guess i was lucky because for me, the whole event was smooth and easy, and a lotta lotta fun!!!
c u in 2006 august full moon!
love, peace and happiness

best sets: regan, pena, definately Nirmal who closed the party. other highlights: food!!! hmm....brasilian kitchen at its best, art gallery, main stage!
dissapointments: dj cyberpunk, sound quality on the first night, the end.

i had a good time camping... there was a festival there? omg.. i must have slept through it hehe... had good fun meeting people.. friends and new people.. didnt hear much of the music.. sound indeed sucked big timeeeeeeeeeeeeeee .. even more than last time imho? very sad... other than that.. was glad to be back at that same location as 2 years ago.. its really nice.. maybe the location is part of the accoustics prob..dont think they ll ever get it right over there..the highlight for me was having good varied company all the time.. missed a bit too much of the nightlife going on though... heard only digital talk at night i guess... and it was really dissapointing.. rest of the nights i slept.. and even missed few things i didnt want to.. oh well... another time another place... hope to see some of you people soon again..

ps// uhm if u make daily newspaper with lineups.. think about it to make it three times the same... chillout line up was announced three times differently... two of the 3 days without playtime next to the acts...and it was too hot and far to wander off to the chillout every time to go check out and ask who was playing...or maybe would play next..
ps 2 & 3: indeed tons of people been robbed... even people that were sleeping in their tents atm it happened...
uhm boom organisation pls take ur responsability and kick out those assholes playing hardcore and other shit music on the camping... wtf... ur organising this... hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people were complaining about this anti boom fuckers.. take ur responsability and kick them out..          ill push u over the edge, and will be smiling when u cant take anymore, at that point ill push a little harder till u experience true psychdelica

some people must itchi on a great festival...but thix is how things are..people aren´t always satisfied....there is something that they can talk badly about (not roberies of course!)
there is always somethin...if it isn´t the food, then it´s the sound system, if it isn´t the sound system, is the lake.....
it was a great festival with small bad stuffs, but the overall i am with what amazon said....super festival, one of the bests i lived in....sadly it has ended....
2006, i am there , defenetly!!!           ...

A short explanation about some things I've said:

I come to a festival to listen to music. that is the main point of a trance festival or a party for me. I come for other reasons too (like the ppl), but what makes a trance festival a trance festival is the music.

All sides of the festival other then the music were good and some were even excellent. good organization and great location.

Now, what're my problems with the music there?
1. bad sound system (now there's an understatement...)
2. not enough diversity.
3. badly ordered line up.

Therefore, I didn't get the main thing I came for - music. I didn't suffer all the time, but there were moments there that I regretted coming.

Lots of respect to Goodmood people. Lots of love and light to all. I know a lot of ppl had a great great time. I'm the minority.

About Boom2006 - nothing confirmed or final, but I've heard that the goodmood ppl will not be making anymore Booms. Boom2004 was planned to be the last one by them, but who knows, maybe they will change their minds (or sell the Boom rights to someone else ). All that is what I have heard a few months ago, could be wrong.
