lots,and,lots of police in the all the area of the festival to sharch all the cars and vans.
They prepare a big operation,because they need to full the boomjail.

Police were there in 2004 - but operation Trance does not sound good.....perhaps Police are just concerned that Portugal is being seen as an easy touch for big festivals and wide spread dealing - Boom is possibly seen as a little more than just a two day dance party - here's hoping! |

Also - slightly easier logistics to stop and search numbers of Union Festival size. Boom is 7 days and 20000 people - no-one would get inside if they searched everyone, including Boom Buses!! |

this is a very dificult situation..i think they can´t also do u a search without any reason - but the reason can be called dogs..i believe they can have dogs sniffing in your car..that will give them something to think about..u know what i mean?
and i also beleive the cops that make surveilance on the roads, have got permission to search the cars in case they suspect of something.
i don´t think they will start to make a witch´s hunt, but never the less, all carefull is needed.

of couse they canstar a witch hunt, after all is portugal... they may ask to search the car, being in your right not to let them (if they ask you just to look at the ashtray or a little something, dont fall for that, from that permission only the can search the hole car), they can take your car and you back to the station and in 2 hours they'll have a permission to search it. so the best way is: if they want because of the dogs let them.
i dont know about how they treat foreigners, but the portuguese they start being smartasses, and give the reason later on that was an anounimous call.
i would find it very strange if after this weekend at Union they if they would not do the same.
my concerns are totally none, i will only take cash and card, my aim is to get to boom not to be taken back after half-way there. |

Hi!
2 years ago there were rumours about police searches to the cars, bla, bla, bla...nothing happened!!!
Last year on the way to Freedom Festival, someone warned us about police searches, bla, bla, bla...i saw nothing at all!!!
I can't be 100% sure but...witch hunts??...i don't believe it!!!
The Union Festival was a much, much smaller festival. Not even comparable to the Boom Festival!!!!! I'm convict that this year there will be a lot more than 20000 people... Besides, don't forget, Boom Festival is helping the farmers with the eco projects, etc, etc, etc... without any doubt, this is a great event for the council of Idanha - $$$ ...
Of course you must be carefull with your "things" but i think that's logical, here in Portugal or somewhere else...after all cops are always cops...lol

sure thing that the police will be on top of this one..after all boom came out in all the portuguese media...lunch time news magazine and stuff...and with so many poeple coming around the will have a massive coverage...thats for sure! It´s probably a question of luck...last year at the freedom festival it was similar..some got the stops with the dogs, others (like me) didnt..and as said before..cops are always cops! But still they want this to work and like in any other fun thing in our society there has to be the balance between showing limits and tolerance!
Gonna head off tomorrow...woop wooop hahaa...c u all there!

Guys, for those stuck at work or unable to visit the festival, I once again suggest you visit www.boomfestival.org - we are going to be streaming Boom Radio, starting on August 2nd until August 10.
In the morning we are going to have interviews, talk shows, news, DJ Mixes, In the afternoon - DJ Mixes and More shows, in the evening transmissions from the Liminal Village and at night Automatic iTunes Mix. We are going to have a lot of your favorite artists like Highko, Waterjuice, Penta (hopefully your favorite too , Ghreg on Earth, Amanda, coming in to the studio to tell jokes, give interviews and spin some music, as well as many other interesting people so you should get a feeling of the festival even if you are not there.
Also, don't forget to tune in to 97.00 FM once you are at the festival. I would take a pocket radio if I were you
