I first posted this in the trance section because I wanted it to be read by as many people as possible, and the offtopic section is dead, but the powers that be here at isra deleted it, so here it is again:
I mentioned this in my nutrition class during the week and nobody knew it was happening, not even the teacher. This worried me. So here is some info.
This is perhaps one of the most dangerous bills ever to pass into senate in America, it has already filtered into New Zealand and will not be long before we are facing the same thing here in Australia.
This essentially renders growing and sharing/selling your own vegetables illegal, keeping seed stock will be illegal and farmers markets will be a thing of the past.
Please do some research into this bill and stay aware as it effects all of us.

This bill doesnt prohibit you from growing your own livestocks and vegetables,it refers to farms that sell more than 500,000 dollars food to the market so we are talking about big and professional farms with lots of people working in them. And i even doubt that this bill will ever be voted anyway.
Nice try guys presenting this as a prohibition by the government towards people into growing,sharing,trading or selling their homegrown food but this is just not the case. Nice try anyway.....

Yes when people dont read or just ignore the guidelines they blame it on the powers of isratrance,its very convenient to do so.......
By the way this topic is misleading in its content since what the original poster says is not the truth or at least not the whole truth....

The US bill starts with a list of entities exempt from it. It didn't specifically list fluffy large domestic cats but I kinda suspect that I qualified. Still waiting for the wise alarmists to show me where it says that I can't catch my own chipmunks.  |

I never said you wont be able to grow for personal consumption, I said growing and sharing. Read what I wrote.
If you trade or give your food away, or sell it at farmers markets, you are no longer considered growing for personal consumption which puts you in a category as a Community Supported Agriculture supplier. This is a whole world of difference because now your food has to be “traceable” That means if your neighbor gets a tummy ache from food you gave her, you need to be held accountable.
It's the start, soon it will be illegal to grow your own food. But I never said that's what this bill is doing for now.

What this really does:
1. It puts all U.S. foods and U.S. farms under Homeland Security and the Dept. of Defense
in the event of contamination or ill defined emergency.
2. It would end all U.S. sovereignty over its own food supply by insisting on compliance with the WTO (World Terrorist Organization), thus threatening national security.
3. It would remove the right to clean, store and thus own seed in the U.S. and thus putting control in the hands of Mansanto and other multinational corporations threatening U.S. security.
4. It begins the final destruction of what is left of the U.S. economy
