hi all,
i decided to write down all the points that been discussed in "mind control" promotional topic about the mp3, labels and various improvements on our scene including the commercial side of it. cause maybe some of you missed it, so i bring it here here for more people to participate.
ok so here some suggestions, for the labels that should attract the buyer and make people buy cds and hang with less downloads, also for the artists and other people on the scene:
- lower prices on the cd's.
- professionalism for both labels and artists, which includes knowlege how to sell, promote, release and make quality music.
- quality over quantity, up the level of the artist selection, less copycat artists.
- net sales - pay per download.
- improve the distribution service.
- label combos, gathering forces. improving skills and releases, less labels.
- better package and artwork. make the buyer be proud of his cd. make him buy and collect cd's like he did it in his childhood with collecting some of other thing that freaked his world.
- make the buyer feel like a part of the label. gaining "points" and rising his status by buying more cd's, which will bring to him goodies like: digital media (like quality wallpapers), stickers, free monthly tune for download, low price for forthcoming label party (when the label really takes a part in it), free shirt or poster with his 5th or any cd, free single cd (with no artwork or package) with some forthcoming artist or any of the known ones, live performance of some act for download at good quality. special news/mag service.
- respect and contribution from people in our small scene.
- subscription service that will run before the release and count how many people will buy the cd and due to that the label will know how many cds to print for the first release pack.
same can be done to sell material to dj's.
that's it for now. 
we tried, c'mon give your ideas and views.

my only explanation is: sale is going down due to lack of contept in major part of music im listen to novadays. most of tracks sound as if authors wanted to say in public: i haven't the foggiest idea how to make music.
only improvement is selecting artists

I think the cd price is standard enough, no need to lower it to hurt the label further. |

I dunno chobo, if cd's were $10 US instead of $13-15, I'd certainly buy more. |

grahf , probably but this is not a pop scene where ppl buy tens and thousands of copies, they could survive with 10 US. But we are in a small community where downloading hurts the industry the most. |

this point definitely wud encourage listeners to buy CDs since they come along with FREEBIES....will sure be a hit
