Ummm, I looked into renting a 3000Watt system for my second stage at our next outdoor party. I was quoted 150,000 yen for the Saturday night.

Doesn't this price seem ridiculous?

Anyone know the best place for renting systems for outdoor parties?           The music was like new black polished chrome

ken,
1) active/passive only refers to the amp. it has nothing to do with electricity. an active speaker (also called powered) has its own amps built in. a passive speaker needs to be powered by external amps. most are passive, but recently some nice speakers are being released in both passive and active versions.
2) about sound outdoors, i know one excellent solution. drop me a personal message.

Hey Russ,

Actually I knew active/passive refers to the amp. Just that my generator is maxed out on the second system and other stuff so it means I have a problem of getting another generator to power the main stage or any additional subs I want to get.

I've always bought passive speakers because I thought active ones were lower quality. If quality active speakers are being released, it will make things a lot more convenient.

cheers,

hey ken,
sorry, i must have misunderstood your earlier post. yeah, as a general rule of thumb, passive speakers have been better, but recently top companies like funktion-one have been releasing active versions of their speakers with high-quality amps that are designed specifically for those speakers. but i think if you are buying something used, you will most likely be buying passive speakers. and if your first generator is maxed, you'll need another one! but speakers need surprisingly little power--far less than simple lighting.

Russ, Ken how do you guys know so much about sound?

Anyways, the cube story, i think they raise the mid and high so they can at least get the volume up. But it just hurts my ears.

Ken, if you need to rent speakers, I know a place that can supply Turbo Sound for about 100,000 yen.
This system would be a full set of I dont know what kind but, i think its a fairly large speaker 2 lows, and 3 mid/highs on each side. So altogether you have 10 speakers.
I would say its a pretty good system also comes with a PA.

Hey Hikari,

I just tried to PM you about the info for this company and your message box is full. Can you please get back to me on this as this sounds like its exactly what I'm looking for.

Cheers,

You have to know a little about sound if you organize parties. I don't know much, but most of what I know comes from my ear and from doing a little research. And most is common sense. For example, if you have to cut the lows, boosting the highs and mids will obviously destroy the sound.
Ken, I sent you PA info via private message. the guy is the same guy Hikari is talking about. I highly recomend him!

Sorry, ken, my box isnt that full only 35 messages, something is wrong, somebody told me the same thing before.
Anyways, hopefully you got the info from russ.

This guy is a sound freak, always measuring the frequency with his, computer. Very good guy.

Russ, hopefully we can collaborate somehow in the future. But first we need to meet eh?

Thanks Russ and Hikari,

After everything my friend's friend came to me with a nice 5000+ Watt System and a 16ft Geodesic Dome for a good price.

Thanks for all your help anyway.
