I have heard a few tracks by protoculture lately...what are some of his must-haves? As in if I wanna make a medium-sized collection of his, where do I start?

thanks...

Start of by buying his album "Refractions" from 2003, still one of my favourite full on albums. When you buy that (or any other Nano release), you also get access to the Nano members-area, where you can download a few Protoculture tracks in WAV for free - including the amazing "Peek a Boo" (which is also released on a few compilations).

Apart from that, my favourites Protoculture tracks are probably these:

"New Directions" (VA - "Dilation" on Nano Records), which, in my opinion is better than his own rework, "More Directions".
"Magnetik (Glastonbury 2004 Live Edit)" (VA - "Natural Selection" on Nano Records)
"High Octane" (VA - "Mind Controllers Part1" on Mind Control Records)
"Metaphysical" (VA - "Emergence" on Nano Records)

… but generally his standard is pretty fucking high, and I like almost everything he releases. In my opinion you can hardly go wrong by buying anything with his name on it.

Melody Machine = Sunrise.

No track evokes the feeling of morning more than this.

His next release is my most eagerly awaited artist album.

I am going to Souleclipse festival (Turkey) in March only to dance to this man's music under the open sky, will be my most eagerly awaited Sunrise .

His remix of Sesto Sento-Run on Green is pretty tight.

But a must have is Dawn Razor and his album "Refractions"

Oceanic, Dawn Razor, Digital World, Peekaboo and his remix to Silver Surfers 'Mudjaji' track ... that last one is sooo fucking awesome!           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

Anyone hear the Circadians track yet? That's a cool one as well, although the melodies are strangely similar to Three Drives on a Vinyl's 'Greece 2000' ...           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."
