assaf, I wonder, what is your experience with labels and the way music is selected for release?
again and again you post replies that reflect your own oppinion without basing them on true facts, and that is a bit irritating.

its true that some labels have certain directions/styles that represent them, but that's only because of the A&R specific taste. it doesnt mean that labels are only interested in GMS/Scando/German style only.

if a track is good, it will find its label and will be released eventualy. more so, some tracks which you might consider awsome are maybe good for DJs and parties, but as listening tracks they suck (there are plenty of tracks like this), so they will be released MAYBE on 12", which is specific for DJs.

oh, yes, and Dark Soho are amatures (IMO), I cant figure out how ppl can actualy listen to this heavy sadistic tremolo style, it reminds me of my youth as a heavy-metalist (lots of depressions, mood swings, broken hearts...). I still believe that trance is about happyness and light, not death, destruction and evilness. sorry.

Tal, you probably know a LOT of music.

Out of all the music released in 2001 did NOT conform to one of the 3 most common styles of the year (Scando minimal, German tech or 3DVision/GMS/Etc)?

I know a few musicians that do not work under those styles, make good music, and get no attention whatsoever (and I know actually more than 2 people who were rejected because their music was "too psychedelic"!!!). I know on the other hand about 100 tracks that were released the last year, and if there was justice in the world SHOULDN'T have been released.

That's why I've lost all confidence whatsoever in the labels today, and my hope is that the people who pushed the scene forward a while ago and are still active in the major labels will actually do something creative.

And the music which I like is usually less party oriented and more deep/psychedelic, not the other way around :)

Asaf has a good point here - we need more styles in trance.

Well , you all talking about new styles and that .
If you want new styles try to create it yourself , it's not like you wake uo in the morning and say "ok im going to create a new trance style today " . it's a hard thing to do and it takes time , so ease up on the creators .

FYI.
I'm a "creator" myself, or more likely, a "destructor"... ;-)
Trashing sounds is fun! =)
It's not problem finding a new style, the problem is only to get people to react upon it...
