Is there any room for negotiation in their contract? Or is it "you'll do it our way or not at all"?           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

My point was that Beatport is not aimed at the psytrance scene and probably never will be.

Why bother stocking any then? They aren't representing the best interests of their psy label 'partners'. Whose interests are they looking out for? Their own, of course. Corporate whores. Yeah - I totally agree. It's a shit site for psy trance.

It's aimed at the House/electro scene and as I wrote £ 3 for a wav track is very fair - compared to the price of a "12.inch in a physical shop. Not to forget it's now possible to get those "12.inch tracks digital.

I used to buy most of my prog / electro from Beatport but now I don't bother. You may think that £3 is fair, I bet you pay in $ don't you? They doubled their prices for people in the UK overnight, with no warning. I am voting with my feet on this, they don't get my custom anymore. Like someone else mentioned; we should all do our bit and buy our music. But what happens when the consumer gets ripped off? Thats right, the consumers starts helping themselves for free. Its a delicate balance. If I as a consumer decide the prices are too high I *could* take the music for free. Thats the game they are playing. Not very bright imo.

Its the internet ffs, do psy shop / saiko etc charge more depending on where you live? No, of course they don't

So there's not really a point in debating why beatport is too expensive when it come to psytrance CD's. Yes you can buy some psytrance/chillout CD's there but it will never be a big downloaded musicstyle on Beatport. That's why it would be much more smart if shops like psyshop/saikosounds would open up digital shops. The got the costumers already. .

I agree. Someone within the psy scene should set-up a similar site for d/loading psy-trance. There are lots of people looking at this right now. Preferably offering .wav format for a *reasonable* price.

The people behind Beatport never intended a psytrance invasion on beatport

Again, why even bother with it then? No winners that I can see.

Well, im not really sure what you would want to negotiate, but i think the best answer is no to that question.. we cannot influence prices or anything.. there are a few "multiple choice" questions but nothing that will make a difference in the long run..

85% return's is what they offer.           "VA - REWIRED" OUT NOW !! (techtrance invasion) ---> http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/86303/forum/9

Do you got some VIP agreement with Beatport or do you mean another online shop? The Beatport contract I sit with here say 60%.

If you have a contract with 85% at Beatport I am more than interested to know what agreement that is           http://www.peopleagainstpeace.net/

The plot thickens. Beatport needs to review their ethics methinks.

I do find it interesting IF the case is that they favorise some labels by giving them better deals. That's why i asked Clown to verify that he is talking about beatport and if the 85/15 deal is a fact.

UK buyers have to more pay more to download than everybody else, so it wouldn't suprise me.

Would be great if you could let us all know when you do get a response.

Well not exactly true. They also regulated the prices in Euro so you dont seem to pay more than the rest of Europe except for those countries in Europe that does not use Euro (excl. UK)

It's another debate that's actually already taken place in the forum. I was more intersted in what Clown wrote.

I'm sorry to go on, but it's true.

US + Rest of world - wav charge is 1 Dollar
Europe (in EMU) is 1 Euro
UK is £1 pound

Do the maths.

So - the UK pay the most. (yes we are talking .wav charge here)

I wont say any more on the subject.

As an artist myself I'm very interested to hear the outcome of this label 'favoritism' thing too. So I'll stick around for that.

buying in beatport its expensive than buyinng in psyShop, just because in beatport you can have the song very fast, but in psyshop you get the complete cd with all the information!           Searching for new Sounds

I will repeat mysef

Beatport is aimed at the house / electo scene and is not so much focused on psytrance. Of course it's more cheap and better (for those who buy psytrance) to get the whole CD at some other shop. BUT the whole idea behind Beatport is that it's now possible to buy the tracks that before only used to be on vinyl and to buy one track at a time instead of having to buy a whole CD where you maybe only like 2 or 3 of the tracks.

Btw in this and other psy related forums the no. 1 complaint most people use when they make excuses why they do not pay for music is that it's too expensive to buy a CD when you only like a few tracks on the CD

It's still cheaper to buy most "12.inch'es from Beatport as a digital release than to buy it on vinyl in a physical shop. And you can buy wav's which for me is a huge plus.

I agree with you bro, maybe its true that you can get only one track instead buying the complete cd if you dont like another tracks! but in my opinion its not the same to have the complete cd with cd case pages etc... than just have the tracks in a folder in your computer, but in vinyls for example maybe its good! but i like having the complete cd for my collection!           Searching for new Sounds

I've just noticed that the Deedrah track "Fulguropoing" i downloaded from Beatport (wav) is only peaking at -5db ?

Anyone else noticed this with tracks from beatport?

I'm presuming the "pygmees vol.2" cd is mastered to zero db?
