we all can benefit from the free exchange of knowledge...
i don't understand what all this talk about gms-bass-lines is either.
mike only gives a hint of how to make a bass line... and this tutorial might be usefull for newcomers but doesn't teach "everything" one needs to know to create good bass...
maybe if everyone starts doing "gms like" tracks, gms will have to find an edgier sound to they're sound (if they wanna keep their superstar status).
at most, teaching how to do gms basslines would be bad to gms itself (and i don't see them complainning here)
better understading of the craft only gives better psy for us to hear
that's my opinion i felt like to express before i stop watching this thread (a very long one indeed).
let the flamming begging (lol... judt kidding)

Yeah chillout. I don't see the problem here really....did Mike break the sacred code of the secret society of enlightened bassline producers here?
Instead give him a little appreciation for the work he put in this tutorial.
And the fear of copycats is unjust here...On that part psytrance is beyond redemption already anyway |

This thread is very sad, because that guy (MIke A) helped a lot of people sharing some helpful tips and a lot of guys didn't like what he did... Well, I apreciate your effort Mike A. Thanks a lot for your time and help

Nice Tutorial, lots of people can learn from it .
I wonder why so many people get better sound in Audio then in Midi, but i dont really see why. Why is it easier to get good sound with raw audio files? Because you can edit them?
I work mostly in midi, i use battery for kick and other percussion. Am therefore able to change the note, and also the length of the sample (in case kick too long can filter end of it) So what advantage does audio really have to midi?
Thanks in advance

VSTi MIDI is sample accurate, the difference between audio and VSTi is merely a matter of which controls you have over the sound. MIDI latency is irrelelvant. |

Wow, this thread really got out of hand ...
I just wanna thank Mike for giving us that tutorial. It's not the way I do it myself though. But I'm sure there's just as many ways of making a bassline as there are people making basslines. And as he said, you need to know the rules before you twist them. Dali said that first didn't he?
