When i started out listening to psytrance I used to dig the bassline more than the melodious content in the music but gradually i realised that its the melody in the track which gives it the structure not to say the bassline aint important. There are more components to a track so to speak like fx's intro , outru etc but what im referring to is just the bassline and melody !

So what makes it or breaks it for you ?           missing plug-in

Depends, if the melody sucks, the bassline could be as floorwrecking as possible, the track would still suck...

I have a recent example.. On beatport I've bought a track after hearing the sample.. The guy (not to name him) starts his stuff with some good elements, places a break with cool vocoders, and then drops one of the most killa bunga chewa booyaka bassline i've heard for quite a long time and i'm like jumping all over the room throwing my panties in the air and.. ehm.. well.. There come some melodic elements that are so-so.. Hmm ok, not that catastrophic, let's go on, I'm tearing up my t-shirt !! BUT THE WANKER keeps adding more and more utterly awful melodic parts until a point the whole is sooooo indigestible that you can feel the diarrhoea coming.. Uffffffff.. Push "stop" before it's too late..

Bah, let's name it :

Erphun feat. Slighter - Undertone

For those who wanna get the idea.
Someone makes a remix, PLEASE !!

A FAT melodic bassline is the key (for example, Inner Action)

It's time to move on to the next step in the psychedelic revolution. We've reached a certain point, but we're not moving any more.

the bassline is definitely the kicker here coz at times wen the bassbeat changes it really kicks up the energy and gets us stomping
But the melody too makes such a big diff .. its hard to decide..
