there needs to be more effort. needs to be made special again. more interesting. make it more than just about the music on the cds. some good reason to want to pay money for it again.

Well said Damage. I really dont like this rock/pop idolization of DJs and live acts these days. It never used to be like this. Parties are about a journey / an experience. Sure the music is the focus but many creative elements have to come together (including the dancers/audience) to make a magical journey that is a trance party.

Too many parties these days are like a rock concert with fans hanging out for the main act. The parties have to become a magical journey again and organizers have to focus on providing this from start to finish.

I think the underground parties are closer to this vision whereas the mainstream parties are moving towards a more rock concert format and losing the spiritual journey aspect.           The music was like new black polished chrome
that came over the sky like liquid night.

about cd's, the quality of psy music being released now is so below that being released in other scenes that i'm surprised anyone is buying anything at all. how many copies of the same cd do you really need?

A little harsh I think, all genres have below par releases, copycat tracks that sound the same, younger producers still learning their craft etc. Yes, there is a lot of crap out there, as in all scenes, but that makes the hunt for the killa tunes much more more fun. Of course it's all down to personal taste but there's still quality Psy music being released.

just to clear it up, sigma is not arcadia renamed. sigma has been making parties in tokyo for over a year and the people are not the same people as arcadia. however, now that arcadia seem to have died (temporarily?) many artists are defecting. john phantasm seems to have gone to sigma and it looks like all of his phantasm records artists will follow, including his son eskimo (they will make a party in november). the people behind arcadia will probably continue making parties under a new name at some point in time, and i am suspicious about the "united first/second/third contact" parties at vellfare, since they include many artists that used to play for arcadia... but i am not sure at the moment...

It doesnt really matter who the organisors are, the point is that they shouldn't bring the same dj's & artists in all the time, its fucking boring !!!

I see some chemical style words in this post....
It depends just how much u want to pay for your artist to play oon your party , if u want Infected Mushroom ( u know whats the price ) ,or if you want Skazi ....
but if u want some " Known " artist ,but in the real world crap sound ,then u can get it for less money and then u dont need much ppl ,and then your party is underground ...good vibe ,becuase some non serious ppl will not come to hear this artist since he didnt represent them ,smashing guitars , singing , jumping on stage and etc.....
So its all depends what u as a psy trance fan ,want to see on party , on one side ...good music ,good quality of sound , good live act , or you want to hear some screeming sounds ,with no sence and etc...about vibe i dont mind bad ppl to be arround me , i didnt come to party becuase of them ,and always on the party you are with your crew ,with ppl you know...so i dont care if someone there or there is fighting or doing what so ever...its up to them , i come to listen good sound ,top quality of production and skills of composing music...all the spiritual trips are for me the past...

Well since theres a lot of rumors going around, I will clear a few things up. I dont if Im supposed to be telling you this, but i rather not see rumors go around.

So these are a few facts.
Sigma is organized by about 4 people. They are a very young crew and very wise. They have pulled a lot of support from many new places, you can even see it on their flyer. Any ways they are trying out new things, if you check out their main act HONTO FBI im sure you can understand. Honto FBI is a completly new type of act. Music/Visuals/Dance completly linked together. Music done by some famous artists(forgot), one of the most famous VJ`s in Japan, Tokyo X-ray, and Street Dancers who link all their dancing completly to the music. Its a real show. good luck to them.

Arcadia will not be doing parties for a long time. They have switched to producing. So this is why you see a party called UNITED at Velfare. This isnt Arcadia, but Arcadia helps with the bookings etc...
You will be seeing Arcadia releasing CD`s though. They will be focusing on their label for a while.

On other news, Chemical Crew has teamed up with the most popular mainstream label in Japan. This label is called FARM RECORDS. Its just pure mainstream pop trance. What people over here called "Gal Trance". So you might see most of the chemical crew artitsts playing at velfarre.

About CD`s, I think what all of you said is true. There isnt much intresting out there, and if they sound similar, i guess people will burn cds. Something intresting needs to happen here.

hikari exactly what i am saying ....
Farm records is mainstream label , but i saw by my own eyes how Japanese love Skazi ..its like you put Madona or britney Spears infront of them ..or i dont know who...its like unbelieveble ...and thats why i really respect his work , he did it ..he is the most famous and most respected in Japan ...
One short example...... Skazi and Duvdev on gathering 2005 , are walking..... 50 -60 ppl are starting to shout screaming when they see him , and start making pictures... NOT EVEN ONE took picture with Duvdev , not even ONE ...all of them wanted Asher to have picture with him ...
I understand ppl saying let it be trance nt rock concert ,but it seems ppl who are coming to the parties like when someone impress them ....so skazi did it...
and about bad year in trance it sure it is bad,and will be ithink just worse and worse..... I really want to be optimistic ....but reality is one thing ,my drems are other thing.....

There weren't so many great albums as a whole but so many killer individual trax on albums and compilations.

I agree with Air Force. 2005 was an excellent year for quality music.

Maybe there are too many labels spreading the quality tunes out all over the place. It means you just gotta look harder for the really choice trax.

This summer/autumn was really great. Heard a lot of good comments from friends. If you are into Vision Quest and huge parties, I heard this year was very special. On the other hand, if your thing is good vibe there were a lot of small/medium parties everywhere. In Nagoya region, I have a friend who fell in love with DJ Domino in a small party which had the best vibe he experienced so far. The Beach, by Fineplay, was also great.
But japanese summers are wet, and last week alone at least 5 outdoor parties with good line-ups weren't what they could have been because of the heavy rain. Sad for Anoyo and Arcadia, hope they return next year.
And a question: why there aren't many parties during Autumn? To me it's the best season for partying in Japan, it's not so hot and nature is great with mist and red leaves.

Peace and Love.

Thanks for updates, Hikari. Seems like you are doing well in this business wise.

Hope to see you soon man,
