Bad cd covers again

now I know this is about bad covers, but I want to show what is NOT a bad cover...
the Waterjuice cd..

This cd is a very good example of what labels should do, if they dont have money for fancy booklets..
Now, the cover is already pretty cool, nice colours and all.... Its a 1-page cover, yes, BUT, it has all else that is required IMO for labels to do: It has the tracklisting (and bpm.. not essential, but a good thing) in the cover, AND it has the little protection in the middle of the jewel case so that the part where the cd ´sticks´ to the case doesnt break... perfect..
of course a nice many-page booklet would have been nice, but I cannot complain, because they simply done all the necessary things (not to mention great music, but thats another topic).. |

I like Yahel, but he should make it a rule to never appear on the cover of any album or DJ mix. But at least he's not wearing those weird goggles! |

I agree here that this cd cover is great.
It fits very well the mega-special kind of music both artists did + it looks very warm.
They maybe look like lesbians, but there's nothing about sex to proove it (xept your imagination,isn't it?!)
It's simply 'sexy' and groovy as the music is and it was made with a lot of taste.
Think about it: it's not easy to reach artist's tastes + be close enough to the music style in one shot.
Personally I do gfx (see N3xu5 cd)and I love to do it in accordance with the artist.I do the same way each time (Adrenalin Drum, etc...)
Don't blame gfx designers,'cuz you don't know the way the arrangment was made between all the people in charge of all that work at final.
It's quite easy to tell 'it's 'bullshit cover' but when it's time to go forward and make a real job for a real label..It's another story!
I ordered the new v/a from Mandala recs. just for the cd cover! Nico is one of my fav gfx artist and I thought I could also support Nico along the label =)
After all,I agree there's plenty of album covers or v/a's that are shameful, but first see the cover in its original context (avoid saying it's bad one when you just saw it on a very bad .jpeg on the net) and if you think you can do better, propose your work to 'that label' and let's go: do it!
Making gfx's is like doing music (or any kind of art): it's not everyone whom is gifted, but it could be learned!

Yeah, the Remote Viewing cover is the laziest cover since Schlabbaduerst, but the Wrecked Machines album came out around the same time and that one is spectacular. I think they just put all their energy/art budget into one.
