Just wanted some feedback on average age of UK psy trancers....i'm now 30 but feel older and older these days. Don't know if it;s just the parties i attend but increasingly i see younger and younger dancers...mostly early university years.

Don;t get me wrong this is great for the scene but are there still plenty of older folk out there going to parties?

It depends where you go disco dancing - i've noticed the crowd can be very young at big London parties - but tend to be a lot more mixed outside London - especially in the North & West where you still get loads of old hippies!

I don't think age really matters......I'm 23, but been psytrancing for almost 10 years now. Its the mileage travelled           :: Life can be as bitter as dragon tears
But whether dragon tears are bitter or sweet
depends entirely on how each man perceives the taste ::

Well Tribe of Frog has a pretty huge reputation in the West of England let alone the rest of the UK and you will find a huge age range there. We're talking mid teens to late sixties!!! Now that says something good about our scene!
Whether I'm dancin or sitting around in the Chillout room I find the great thing is that people of all ages mix & chat together no problem as it should be!!
It's great when I get the chance to play there cos when you look out on the dance floor there is just such a huge cross section of ages and kinds of people and they're all groovin to the same sound....amazin!!!
There's nothin like psytrance to bring people together!!           If you point your cart North,
when you want to go South,
How will you find The Way?

haha
Agreed with Mr. Ross here although quote "i'm only a young 'un " haha
Age isn't at all important at least here in the English scene...
I turned 18 in October, but have been going to trance parties for a couple of years now... hehe...
Only problem is having to go to school after parties

But yeah.. i've met people at parties from 15 years old to 70 years old and they're all equally as lovely!

Yeah - we've always had a good cross-section of ages. I don't think anyone feels too old or too young at our parties.

London Crowd is Amazing..
When im out at parties there I never llok at a person with the age factor. Im 20 and ive made friends with ppl as old as 50 and as young as 17. If you ever start judging a rave crowd according to its age then you are creating a barrier among psy lovers and thats not something psychedelic trance teaches you. All Ill say is, No matter what age group, what ethnicity or what sex you belong to.. If you love Psychedelic Trance, you are a member of the tribe

I think it's just changing times. I first got into Goa trance about 10 years ago when I was 20. Back then people of all ages into the UK club scene would head to Goa, including myself, for the beach parties and this continued into the mid and late 90s.

However, after 2000 Goa merged with Psy and now I see the music becoming more political and associated with mod, goth culture....many parties I've been to recently seem crowded with very young students in black make-up and army surplus gear...and there seems less and less mainstream clubbers attending goa/psy events.

Most of the 30/40 something clubbers seem to have moved over to house music.

I've seen a few goths and especially cybergoths - but must admit to not having seen too many sharply attired mods amongst the scruffy slackers and wasters you normally see at psy parties... mores the pity - maybe some sharp dressing is just what these hippy layabouts need!
