promotion?!?!?!?!
a legal "audio galaxy" site with short demo`s (2-3 min from each track)
sponsers will advertise on the site the product and the artists will get moeny from them (for every download)
this is promotion

i think no label runs out of business cos some ppl "stealing" music, but cos the labels/artists lack of professionalism. and to luiz: maybe u should think ur capitalist thingy to the end and than get the point what this would do to our scene...

Yuli , You make great music, you really do,
BUT , 90% of it wouldnt be heard and known so widely if it wasnt for mp3,
AND THATS FOR A FACT!!
YES, people buy tickets for gigs/parties you play in because its your music they wanna hear, and its you they wanna see play,
BUT Most of it would NOT BE,
unless the mp3!!! 
STOP LIVING IN A DREAM, MP3 ONLY BENEFITS THE TRANCE ARTISTS.....

Lot of people , believe that our great music is in danger when AG and other programs are active in the net. Also others believe that without this programs the music will be not promoted and finaly will extinct. Both sides have good points here . Buut the main point is not AG or Psytrance artists or labels ... its about RIAA and Music. Just look what is going on in the worldwide music scene ..have you heard of monopoly? There is one big fat guy called RIAA which controls everything including : cd prices, artists , labels, concerts,promotion,music fashion,distribution. Most of people dont realize what they like because daily they are bombarment by RIAA's greedy music. it is a mass hypnossis.. 1O times per day you listen the same track , a track tha RIAA decided that is a hit...
AG was a tool that allowed people to discover something new,underground and stop listening the britney f u c k i n g spear shit ...
IMO psytrance is not going to die because of AG or mp3 , it is more likely to die because of the commercialism, because of RIAA.If Riaa become interested one day for our music then everything is finished ,dead, kaputt...
Support the psy artists people , support the underground labels , support everybody who does not belong to the monstrous RIAA organisation!
It is time Riaa to realize that they are not controling everything. |

There's nothing that we can say that will change your mind about that.
But I haven't seen one reasonable, rational, thought-out argument on this promotion thing, so I will stop arguing.
Dubi dear: no one is mad at you, or at anyone else for that matter, but check this out:

no mp3 d/l whatsoever will ever pay for Yuli's new synth, or for those new monitors he needs to make it all sound awesomely crisp...
bottomline: underground scene like this one needs to survive. Artists need to pay their bills too folks. And noway they're gonna do that when every other person can easily get their CD in the internet without forking over any $$ at all.
And let's face it: the only thing we need is food and a bed to sleep. All the rest is complementary, even this music thing. So plz, don't say that you HAVE TO HAVE this or that track, cause face it, you don't.

Your point is well known to me and by any standard isn't new. The difference between the 2 of us is that I accept you and what you do ( I don't have much choice, do I ) and you don't accept my way eventhough you enjoy things I do and for free.. Shahar made a very generous offer here in the forum and on multitude of mailing lists - it's on for 10 days now ( if I am not mistaken ) and he sold - how much??? 15 CD's...
But I guess that sometimes one has to realize something is lost and can't b found anymore to understand what mistakes he has done...
Dre - I don't care much about AG, Napster and all this shit - I don't believe in any of these and I never will... But you that do believe in it enjoy them while they last... And check out in few years sif the quality is still the same - And if it's not the same - don't dare to bitch about it....

Man, c'mon, i would go and buy music but WHERE?! In ukraine there is NO TRANCE MUSIC in shops and www stores don't want to send CDs here. Well, what will you say now? Ha? I love this music and what should i do without any access to it? And what will you say if minimum salary in Ukraine is $25? And this sum is minimum for average club with pop music (there is no techno or trance or even breakbeat clubs) to go and spend there.
What's the score now? What's next?

Today most artist make money from Parties, not from selling cd's...
So, if people hear your music through AG, then they might not buy your music, but they may very well end up going to your party to see you play - that's the point of AG - Exposure!
btw, I never had AG... (coudn't get it to work over a firewall... hehe)

YULI , actually i own an originall copy of none other than your album , which i bought, yes i did, last time i spent my vication in Israel , among many others i buy through mail , so dont judge before you hear both sides.... PEACE !
..And BTW , not only it will last it will get better and spread world wide with each day that goes by !

Soooo....
Use music sharing systems if you choose, but...
Be sure to RESPECT and SUPPORT the artists that make good music by buying their CDs when you can and going to their shows.
Remember that artists need make money so they can make fabulous music for us instead of wasting their talents flipping hamburgers.
Think about it and be honest with yourself -
"Do I put into the scene as much as I take?"
Always ask youself this each time you hit download.
And yes, the comment about APPRECIATION is so true - appreciate your music....sometimes less is more! (now this sounds like another minimal vs. full-on argument!)
