Luiz all the artists that i named have become really famous here in Greece.
Care to know how many of their fans own an original cd of Pots Bitmonx and the likes?
NO ONE.
Simply because most of these cd's dont reach Greece or just because the compilations arent good enough to buy except two tracks in them.
By the way what happens when there is a cd released and there is just one good track there?
Will anyone buy a cd just for a track?

Ok, Earth to Isratrancem Earth to Isratrance, we seem to have a malfunction here....
you guys are giving AG way too much credit in terms of a "promoitional" tool. your credit far exceeds it's reputation by a landslide. get OVER your self and get with it, homeys. Im PFS that even without AG or Napster having unreleased tracks for you to download (an Illeagle thing to do, and also a rip off...), artists like BLT and Bitmonks and Freaking Astral fucking projection would have done fine. heck. more than fine. cause instead of downloading the music, you'd be buying the music. now here's the tricky part - someone downloads a new album, he likes it, yet he doesnt buy it (why should he? he has it all on his harddrive, and don't even think of patronizing me on this one and saying that's wrong - a lot of ppl are like that and a small group simply doesnt cut it as a majority here), and than record sales are down, the artist loses his contract, cannot afford to make music anymore, and were left with eyal barkan for our morning pleasure...
im pretty sure Elvis didnt need AG, had it existed in his time. and he was considered Underground back than. how the heck did he pull it off without AG? wonders never cease..

I'm sure if artists has money they buy the most important things to make music. Buy you have to understand most of the artists and labels are living from the music. They just want from the fans to buy the favourite cds, not every, just the favourites. And go and see them on the parties.
Simple and you don't have to be Richie Rich.

i really dont think ag was the problem... i mean where all these unrel. tracks came from? i think when artists would pay more attention to whom they give their stuff away nobody could trade them right? my guess is that in the psytrance scene the business (artists/labels) are the bigest mafia. so they should stop whining about that, but act against the "black sheeps" in the business and be more professional. and when we get startet about copyright and stuff... do all these artists pay for their cubase/logic or whatsoever? i would bet that almost everyone had atleast at the beginning of his/her career a hacked version. and it goes on and on... the samples someone aready mentioned.
that doesent mean that one shouldnt buy records - i think everyone who really likes the music should buy their fair share of original records- but its just funny when some ppl cry foul when music is copied, this was always part of the music business and will always be, with or without ag.
just my thoughts about that topic
peace

danger i dont know where u coming from but here in israel the cd price are way too much imo
i mean 90 nis for cd? (like 18 $)
way too much for a person who go to parties
when i was buying cd it was never ending story
u buy 3 u need 10 more!
and like someone said here there are lots of cd or compilations with only 2-3 good tracks..
i know its hard subject
but if the cd prices were lower it would make all the sides happy.

cavit, i have rarely seen a trance record being sold for more than 70 nis. granted, it's still expensive, but it's no 90 nis, right?
what do you expect ppl? to get everything for fuck all? forget that. like chaitu said here - no free meals.

and to set some things in proportion - BLT's Presence cost 55 shekels in a tower record store (and these guys are cheap SOB's,rating most of the other albums inshop at over 85 nis)..

I mean, if you bought ALL of your CDs, the good old capitalist competition would increase the quality of the music. You have a problem with a CD with just one good track? Don't buy it, eventually either the label improves its quality or run out of business, plain and simple. Now labels run out of business not because they are bad at this music thing, but because 2000 spoiled kids log on to AG and download the disc.
And plz, no complaints on price ok?
I want to have a Ferrari. U$ 200.000. Do I go out and steal one?
I want to have a Nakamishi sound system. U$ 3000. Have I stolen one from the local dealer?
Then why the hell should I be allowed to steal music???
It's like Yuli said, for most ppl out here, it's become like a heroin addiction: more, more, more. Plz, go out and listen CAREFULLY to the stuff you got....

mate, i totally agree with you! i find i can get musical 'indigestion' just by purchasing too many cds at once (possible now i earn money...). never really listen to 'em properly, what a waste. but if you just get a choice few, then those are so special to you!
AG as promotional tool? when i got into this music there was no such thing as ag, or napster. i bought the compilations that appeared in the shops - and if i had to come to london to find it i did. I can see the convenience of posting your own music on the net and just directing labels to a url to listen to it, but no-one has said that was bad...
at the end of the day, theft is theft. a lot of your justifications for downloading are as poor as justifications of insurance fraud on the grounds that 'everyone does it'.
however there is an issue here, cause if your downloading REALLY does not affect how much money you personally spend on music... then the net effect on the industry is nil, right. but, this is no closed system so can never be tested.....
PLUR people
this is only my opinion...

Some people here suck up to artists, so they think they'll have good connection...
Well you are the real problem in this buisness
You keep on saying stuff that doesnt make any sense!! Elvis?? What the fu$$ is that all about?? I think someone took way too much drugs..... AG got shut down not because your trance scene ! no one cares about that in the IRAA, GO AHEAD AND ASK 'EM!!
Its all couse the mtv starts.......
So stop saying bullshit ! AG only helped the trance scene and its artists, and something else will replace it short enough!!
More than half of the top artists today wouldnt be so well known around the world as today , if It WASNT FOR MP3 !! FACT!!
STOP Leaving in a dream , you are about to wake up & it will blow in your face! FACT!!
WAR U WANTED, WAR YOU SHALL HAVE!!
ARE YOU HERE FOR THE KNNOBBIN' ?! |

i agree about the addiction!
thats what i said its good time to all of u listen to all zilion cd u have at home and dont even listen.
ppl just downlaod music like factory and dont hear half of what they have
but jason! u cant give one blt cd as example for cd
price cuzz most stuff in tower cost 85.
and u all nice ppl say dont bitch about cd prices
BUT IM NOT THE ONE WHO PUT THE UNRL IN THE AG!
AND IF THE SYSTEM WOULDNT WORK LIKE THIS WE WOULDNT KNOW ALOT OF ARTIST WE KNOW TODAY

i know for fact that most trance scene is bulit on mp3 and not cd ppl buy
at least im honest!
