Great contribution to the thread. I'm sure that your opinion will span the entire Intertubes and be the better for it

Newsflash - plenty of pro producers use FL studio. and have great sound.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

There is no point to starting the argument 'which is the better DAW' - all the major players at this point are transparent and have unique advantages and disadvantages.

Use what you like and what works for you and focus on the musical aspect and the workflow that your DAW of choice gives.

If you don't like FL...don't use it? I may not like its interface or workflow either but that doesn't mean that I should go on a forum and randomly slag on it for being a 'toy'            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

reaper is other kind of daw, its a linear sequencer... bitwig aproach 2 methods

reaper is the most flexible daw ever made, you can customize everything, the GUI, the controls, the buttons, the mouse clicks...

if you know how to use this features of reaper, you would have the daw of your dreams, not having to adapt your self to it, but making the daw work based on your own methods...

this is actualy what i have made with reaper...

i can say my DAW its unique, my own vision of how it should look and work

and its fully x64 bit, where i can use either x86 plugins also without problems, all integrated without external bridge...

i have tabs to work with several tracks at same time...

really, Reaper is a superior DAW IMO, the only con about reaper is that the midi seccion could be more advanced, but it do everything as the others, it just lacks some tools for automations and notes, but nothing really necessary...

its not even comparable with bitwig, because bitwig its more an ableton clone with a more friendly look and some nice add on's, reaper have its own identity...

and its cheap also, even if you dont want to buy it, you can use it without limitations... no trial ending, only a 5 second splash window when you start the app.

agree that the level of personalization of the program is higher on Reaper then on anything else, but granted you can adapt to some interface, keyboard shortcuts, so forth and so on on another application, you're fine using another one...

I think the "actions" on Reaper is a gold thing, that could/should be adopted by other hosts as well.

But if you look at what's under the hood, I think both Ableton with integrated Max 4 Live or Bitwig having an open API will add to the mix the advantage of having access to user base libraries with tons of applications/plug-ins to run coupled with stock packages; or to delve deeper if one has the programming skills and still manage to accomplish unimaginable things within this programs.

Bitwig also has this 32/64 bit at same time thing, plus audio unit and vst running along side, if a plug-in crashes, it doesn't crash the whole thing - that's got to be good to, right?

And think they've gone a step forward as far as audio editing is concerned, in terms of flexibility and ease of use. They've set out to develop the internet thing to allow people to work together and that's also a big plus - there's the ohm studio so far that's great fun (also has a nice package with geforce and ohm force stuff, pretty neat) and looks like they're aiming for a step forwards in a lot of areas.

But all in all, it really sums up to 0. It only depends on how you interact with the program, and that's connected to experience, knowing the keyboard shortcuts and how to do things within any host. Best daw is the one you can achieve good results faster, but that's no cosmic truth, that's a very subjective thing...
