I can't vouch for either, although all the reviews I have read and friends stories about RME are that it's very very nice! I personally use my MOTU microbook for my livesets, not only is it stable, I do like the converters, very nice!!! For production I use my old Mbox 2pro...

I use a focursite about 1,5 year now but my experience about rme is the best. the converters are brilliant and super quality product. i dont have hear any trouble from my friends that they use some model from rme...only the best
so i vote for RME with no doubt.
i dont have any experience about the Apogee cards.

If you look for the quality, then RME is something to look for..
I have experience from FF400 and Multiface, they are my babies
