On the market for a new one.

Thinking of either:

Apogee Duet or Quarter
RME Babyface.

Thoughts?           Cuntus Maximus.

I own a RME Babyface and i'm very happy with it!

I use it in studio and also in my gigs....RME (quality performance ) sound and portability. Also RME works both with pc and mac...that's a big plus for me!!!! I never tried the Apogee but i think the Babyface gives you more options than the duet.

Same here. RME drivers have a reputation for being incredibly stable and efficient, and in my experience allow much lower latencies than other interfaces I've owned. Plus they're FUCKING LOUD and very clean indeed. The software you get with them is excellent too; you can route anything to anywhere in any proportion, and even automate the whole mixer via MIDI if you want. Their spectrum analyser is one of my standard tools for mastering.

I'm slightly confused by the RME babyface...it says it has a lot of outputs/inputs but I only see a couple inputs/outputs on the device itself???

I have a presonus audiobox USB with 2x in and a headphone out and I REALLY want to move up to an interface with more capability than that (at least 3, preferably 4 INs and at least 2 OUTs)

oh cool, I see - you plug in a cable and it splits off to a bunch of inputs/outputs. neat.

will be a while before I can afford it and I'll probably fall to temptation and buy a ring mod moogerfooger before a new interface but I've heard a lot of great stuff about RME.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Mmmm I'm more thinking I want a good interface, headlhones, monitors etc. and the quality outboard gear can wait a bit longer. That's what I'm enjoying about my modular. I mist buys piece when I've got the spare cash lying around. No need to pay a lump sum upfront.           Cuntus Maximus.

So ok I bought this on eBay with some Beyerdynamic DT880.

Still shopping for a headphone amplifier. Not convinced on the one I found last week. They don't seem that common here in Australia and hard to buy from overseas.
