Yeah, you made the papers... talk of the city for a good day or so, Konundrum.

Yes you CAN leave the city by taking the Green Tortoise into Gerlach... but as far as crossing the trash fence - I'm sure its doable, but they sure don't like it.

Happy I got over this shit years ago.
Have fun if you can afford to or go to a slew of real psy parties.

well the first 10,000 tickets are $210 a piece. compare that to Boom festival where advance tix are 95 euros or about $150 USD. and i think burning man is a couple days longer as well. seems reasonable to me.

Who tells you to buy the most expensive ticks?

actually the burning man website does!

"Did you know that the first 10,000 tickets are sold at below the cost per person to produce the event?

Please help our community and do your part: buy tickets at the highest price level you can afford. When you buy a higher priced ticket it allows lower-income members of our community to purchase tickets at price levels they can afford."

Its rather unbelievable, but instead of me repeating hearsay (two of the BRC newspapers embellished quite a bit), I'll let Johann tell you himself.

Sneaking in is outdated imho. Sneaking out and going to hot springs in the middle of the night is HOT now

that was already hot 10 years ago when the hot springs were still pretty deserted and open to the public (they're closed to the public during BM these days per BLM guidelines, supposedly), the perimeter team didn't have sophisticated night-vision equipment and tickets cost only $70 or so, so they didn't care so much about people sneaking in. it was actually kinda easy back then.

i really don't recommend sneaking in now, they WILL find you and make you pay, or might even turn you over to the popos.

they have special low-income tickets and scholarship tickets that you have to apply for. be creative on your scholarship application though.

I would like to see this proven mathematically... Good luck fudging those numbers around enough to make Burning Man seem to cost: $8,400,000. This is with 40,000 paying guests all at the $210 price that claims to be "sold at below the cost per person to produce the event?" I am sure there will be far more than 40,000 paying as well...

All of these numbers beg the question: Has Bentley released it's Hybrid yet???

http://afterburn.burningman.com/06/financial_chart.html

total expenditures: $10,278,000

obviously these figures are from the BM LLC so i would take them with a grain of salt. still i think it gives a good idea how much capital and organization is required to put on a festival of this size.

FYI the italicized quote was also from the BM website.

my point is that a BM ticket isn't really much more expensive than one for a large trance festival.

furthermore, i think bickering over the ticket prices is silly since, in my experience at least, the cost of the ticket was negligible compared to the cost of actually transporting oneself to the playa and buying all the necessities and niceties one needs for a week in the desert.

Done & done (waited for 4 hours today when ticket sales started and got mine for $225).
Anyone else going to both BOOM and BM?
It's going to be a crazy two weeks- woo!
