Hi All !

Atomic Pulse's third album is just released ! the names behind this project are Tamir Ozana and Yair Bar-On. The new album called "Direct Source" and it included 10 new tracks with some intersting combinations and a sepcial remix version.

1. Quantum Mechanics (140 bpm)
Tamir and Yair are opened their album with a slowly full on track (on compare to the avarage full on style tempo). The kick here is fat and soft with a rolling baseline, which creates a sensitive vibe. I think the traget of this track is to open the album like a set's opening, it's means - a slow building for a strength diging. It is a good full on track for start moving the legs.

2. Fatality (Vs. Fatali) (141 bpm)
Now the Atomic Pulse guys unites with the most emotional artist on the full on scene Eitan Fatali. You can feel it already from the begining with a delicate opeining-melody and one minute later arrives a bouncing kick. The Fatali's touch is very sensible here, which is totally positive thing. On 03:25 there is a down in the track with purpose to go up with a rhythm melody which make me smile and move the head. This is definitely a good combination.

3. Single Cell (142 bpm)
As you can see the tempo is going up gradually as the album progressing. Now I can officaly write about this track - "a dance floor material". The kick here is more pumping and jumping with a faster baseline and some nice effects around. On 02:30 there is a brake with a male sample and a very danceable rise. The most important thing here is that the track is always alive and not stuck with one direction all along. Later, there is a beautiful melody which add a lot of positive feeling to the listener but the up is not powerfull enough in my opinion.

4. Amino Acid (Vs. Cyrus The Virus) (143 bpm)
One more cooperation is with the Spun's project - Cyrus The Virus. The begining is very nice with a calm playing but after 50 second enter in a suprising kick which fling everyone. Generaly, the track is kind of boring on many parts but it's gets some highlights moments like on 03:30 with a special games and a bombastic up.

5. Direct Source (145 bpm)
The middle track is the title track. The tempo is avarage here. The start of this track is very absorbing untill the first kick gets in. I don't think this track has the power to create a madness on the dance floor, but it's sure can shake some asses over. Maybe more suprises and unexpected elements would take this track to higher levels. Only, on the main brake the track is gets a new life and kicking the crowd to the air.

6. Alternative Reality (145 bpm)
When I hear this one I say to my self - "why they did not put more power here? ". This is definitely not a bad track but it's not so powerful as I expected it to be...too calm for me. This kind of tracks won't stay in my memory for long time and it is pity because there is a potential. If you are wonder what kind of track is it, so the answer is - a regular full on track by the regular full on's formula.

7. Noise Freak - 2006 Audio version (145 bpm)
The original version was a huge hit on many dance floors around the world. The new upgrade version is start with the so familiar vocal and the amazing melody...the atmosphere here is so happy and comfortable. This version is more mature with a smart build untill the explosion on 04:52. Well done Tamir & Yair.

8. Kuromatic (Featuring DJ Ta-Ka) (143 bpm)
One more combination here, and this time with the Japanisee artist - Ta-Ka. An enjoyable full on track with the right elements and an excellent vibe all over the track. For me, this track is one level up from most of the tracks in this album.

9. Mateluna (145 bpm)
It is hard to desribe this track because it's too similar to the other tracks here but still has the exclusive touch. Acatully, this one is more powerfull and intersting with some nice groovy beats.

10. Fire Dance RMX (147 bpm)
The last track is the remix for the 90's hit - Fire Dance. This one is the fastest track here which is a rare thing on the closing track. After one minute and 40 second of introduction, the Atomic's kick take control and integrate some elements from the original song with the AP's touch. Great re-mix !

Review:

Third album from Atomic Pulse, I wish it’s so good like the others

Track 1 (Quantum Mechanics) starts slowly (140 bpm) but with very energy and rhythm…Atomic Pulse’s kick bass line, always evolving…some breaks to refresh a little and then rhythm again.

Track 2 (Fatality) is done with Fatali and is a bit more pacific…nice and rhythmic kick bass line, some psy sounds that put some suspense on the track, beautiful open-air melody after the break...great one

Track 3 (Single Cell) is one of my favourites here…great rhythm, nice construction, nice and energetic breaks, a dancefloor killer for sure!

Track 4 (Amino Acid) is done with Cyrus the Virus…powerful bass line, nice and dreamy melodies…I think that this two projects have some future in collaborations between the two, I hope to listen more from them.

Track 5 (Direct Source) is undoubtedly my favourite here…strong bassline, a nice floating feeling from the start till the end, intense melodies – especially at the end, you have to hear it

Track 6 (Alternative Reality) is another dancefloor bomb…another time strong and power bass line, mixed with some quiet psy sounds full of effects…ideal for playing at morning hours.

Track 7 (Noise Freak) is very sweet and in my opinion better than the original...it has those beautiful sounds of the first one, with a progressive and rhythmic kick…melodies from beginning to the end, simply wonderful!

Track 8 (Kuromatic) is done with Dj Ta-Ka and has a great digital feeling…nice morning melodies, a break with a spectacular re-entering at middle, not my favourite but very good too.

Track 9 (Mateluna) is just more one, nothing new here…it has a good construction and that great Atomic style but apart from this is a bit boring.

Track 10 is the remix of Fire Dance…starts good, with some fresh kick and some quiet melodies…it has a lot of funny sounds but at middle has a break and from there to the end it has a melody that I think could be a bit less commercial…

For me it’s till now the best album from Atomic Pulse, all tracks have a great energy to be played at dancefloors, especially 3, 5, 6 and 7…all the album is very danceable and has a great rhythm associated, very good work

9/10

i have only heard the firedance remix. and im thinking "have these guys no shame in life?" they totally trashed the original eye q classic. i dont think its a remix either, more likely a silly bootleg.

very much digging this cd...really like the atomic pulse style basslines - so driving...i find this cd to be more consistant and less clubby than their last, altho i think "trip to space" on their last one is better than every track on this cd, but all in all this is a cracking release

Personally thought this one was a fantastic album. Been playing this stuff out since last year and seems to really go down on the dance floor. Highlights for me were Amino Acid (my kinda morning stuff), alternative reality (some really funky bits in here), and Kurumatic (really love this tune, specially the breaks section). Thought the overall sound has matured alot, and the feeling in the tracks really give the dance floors a great vibe.
Also thought the RMX of Noisfreak did the original justice.
By the way XXL, the original was written by atomic pulse and asterix.
Anyway, check it out, its a good listen this.

i have just checked some tracks in this album and i think this is one of the best full on i heard in the last months. It has some of the psychedelia sounds that i think trance is about. i will just dig it for some more.

Atomic Pulse - Direct Source ( Yoyo Mar. 2006 )

This 3rd album by Atomic Pulse was released by Yoyo Records, one of the most established psytrance labels, responsible for dozens of releases.
Atomic Pulse is Tamir Ozana and Yair Bar-On from Israel, these guys are producing music for a long time now, since the very beginning of the Astrix full on Era.

The mastering was made by Tamir Ozana himself, and sounds good to my ears.
The cover design was made by Uzigraphics.com and shows an army with gas masks, I found it a pretty interesting analogy to the crowd at parties today. There are some nuclear missiles and the "radioactive sign" is all around, and this is where it starts to get lame in my opinion. Behind the jewel case there is a female like body wearing a big gas mask. The CD itself is yellow and has the radioactive sign on it; Megadeth did the same 10 years ago on their CD Rust in Peace.

Track List:
01. Quantum Mechanics - 140 BPM - 07:18
02. Fatality (vs Fatali) - 141 BPM - 07:57
03. Single Cell - 142 BPM - 07:12
04. Amino Acid (vs Cyrus the Virus) - 143 BPM - 07:56
05. Direct Source - 145 BPM - 07:31
06. Alternative Reality - 145 BPM - 07:30
07. Noise Freak (2006 Audio mix) - 145 BPM - 06:49
08. Kuromatic (feat. DJ Ta-Ka) - 143 BPM - 08:21
09. Mateluna - 145 BPM - 07:14
10. Fire Dance rmx - 147 BPM - 08:16

Let's hear the atomic pulses:

01. Quantum Mechanics --> The album begins with its slower track, Quantum Mechanics. The first half is a little boring, but the second half works nice, it relies on well placed elements, a sample from the movie What the Bleep do we know? "All emotion is holographically imprinted chemicals" and a soft synth line. Light full on.

02. Fatality --> This second track is a collaboration with Eitan Carmi, more well-known as Fatali. It is a slow track, 141 bpm. Once again I found the first half boring, but the second part nice. In a way this reflect the history the musicians are trying to tell. Average track.

03. Single Cell --> Tamir is slowly adding power on each track, the beginning here is much more palatable, and after the sample "A single cell could be used to create a genetically identical fetus. A fetus which could be carried to term and, in effect, be reborn", the track reveals its true nature, which is similar to the Atomic Pulse tracks on their previous albums. I like it, specially the sample and the ending.

04. Amino Acid --> Amino Acid is more robust, can be played right form the beginning at parties. It is a collaboration with Cyrus the Virus, from the Spun Records crew. It has a very interesting sample: "No amino acids! No proteins, no enzymes, no nucleic acid... Impossible! No organism can maintain life without them!" After this sample all I want to do is dance! Good track!

05. Direct Source --> With Direct Source, which also is the album name, the Atomic guys arrive at the 145 bpm and it gets clear that the album style is represented by this track. Not that much powerful or innovative, but in a concise style, reminding a little of the previous albums. It is a nice track.

06. Alternative Reality --> On the original booklet is written: Written, arranged, produced & mixed by Avi Shmailov / Tamir Ozana, additional production & remix by Atomic Pulse. But I guess this is a printing mistake and that it refers to the next track. Here we have another track with that same idea "Not that much powerful or innovative, but in a concise style, reminding a little of the previous albums". A sample about dreams and reality that I can't understand and the track gets a little better, but nothing new under the sun...

07. Noise Freak (2006 Audio mix) --> I found this remix pretty much average, so it is worthless, to honor the original it really should add something. No more comments.

08. Kuromatic --> This collaboration with DJ Ta-Ka is my favorite track here. It is a good example of a nice idea and excellent execution. It has another sample from the movie What the Bleep do we know?

"Little things happen... that are so unexplainable...
I know that they are the process or the result of my creation.
And the more I do that, the more I build a neural net in my brain..."

I found this track to be very emotional and its perfect melodies always make me smile, there is no cheese here. Excellent track, my favorite here.

09. Mateluna --> Maybe the most dance floor friendly track on this album, this track is still within the album style, but works smoothly on the dance floor moving the crowd from side to side. Also this tracks sounds brings a pinch of innovation within its nice synth lines. Very good track.

10. Fire Dance rmx --> Closing this album is the Atomic Pulse remix to the classic tune Odysee of Noises - Firedance. It is the faster track on the album, but to me it adds nothing special.

Verdict: 6.5/10. I found this album average. On one side we got 10 previously unreleased tracks, making 76 minutes of music, no guitars, no cheese, and the tracks are well built and explore a wide bpm range within the proposed style. On the other side this release brings no innovation, the remixes could be better and half of the tracks are average tracks, but I wouldn't call them fillers, they are better than just fillers.

Favorites: 3, 4, 8(!), 9(!).

Recommendation: If you liked the previous Atomic Pulse albums it is very possible you'll enjoy this one. If you're looking for some classic Israeli trance tunes, these can also fit your case.

I really like this one, BNE never dissapointed I'm just can say that this one is a fantastic album, mature production, amazing basslines and crazy breaks, "Direct Source" and "Kurumatic" Feat. Dj Taka are my personally favorites specially the melodies and the breaks section on "Kuromatic" is just a example of a mature track.

I'm sure this album is a DJ Tool for shure and also good one for the player of anyone.
