This is cool. And available for download.

Here's the story from Dick Trevor:

"Looking through my old DAT's, I found this forgotten gem… This was made in Januray 1999. It's a remix of Atmos' classic Klein Aber Doctor done by myself and George Barker, released as Slinky Wizard vs. Green Nuns Remix….BUT this version was done after we had put down our final mix…. Simon popped round for a cuppa and did a live mix on the mixing desk. In the "olden days" before making everything inside a computer people would make their sequenced mix then put everything on a loop and make a live mix on the analogue mixing desk twisting the FX and EQ's, playing the desk like an instrument……this was a trick learnt from the days of Youth's Butterfly Studios….. Simon P., Ott and Greg Hunter were masters of this. Then you could edit it down into a few minutes. So this is Simon's live mix of our remix….its about 19 minutes long and very psychedelic! Enjoy!"

Absolutely brilliant. Deep trip music. We need less duck trance and more of this music today.

Very nice, and all this done in 19 mins
Correct me if i'm wrong but when Dick Trevor speaks about "In the "olden days" before making everything inside a computer people would make their sequenced mix then put everything on a loop and make a live mix on the analogue mixing desk twisting the FX and EQ's", he's saying they would export every single track into a different loop and mix them on the analogue desk, correct?           Tudo que é melhor e mais superior em mim saúda tudo que é melhor e mais alto em si

I suppose the Akai Apc-40 (although digital) is just great for doing this stuff?

I'm not sure, but Dick's a real nice guy, and I'm sure he'll answer you on facebook or soundcloud if you ask.

Not quite. What he's saying is that the track would be recorded in several separate sections which would then be edited together to make the complete remix. Each section would consist of a loop in the sequencer of a different part of the track, most likely 8 or 16 or 32 bars long, with every sound in the track playing at once into a separate channel on an analog mixing desk. Everything would have been driven by MIDI and all the sounds would have been produced by hardware. As the loop played back over and over, channels on the mixer would be muted and unmuted by hand in real-time, and the FX and EQ would be tweaked to create the different parts of the final arrangement, which would then be edited together afterwards.

There was no 'exporting' in those days! All hardware...           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

great yes but not as real gears , i might be a bit snob the feeling of a real desk i find it awesome to mix live .
maybe a AH Zed R16 could be a good alternative
