Astrology-truth or myth?

Chinese astrology
vedic astrology
Mayan astrology
history tells us it came from the babylons n passed to the world!!
how come studying the movement of celestial objects determine or predict future? our universe is changing , the constellations seen from our planet will differ from space.(since all stars r not at the same distance from earth)
what is the co relation of the celestial objects with personality, human affairs and other "Earthly" matters.
if its true the world will end on dec 21 2012(according to mayan calendar)
n if not.then everything is false and a lot of things r incorrect. so should we prepare for an end or a begining.

i don't get it. why should the world end in 2012?
if you were a chief astronomist of a certain culture would you
a) be lazy and make a calendar for the next year
b) be conscientious and make it for the next couple of hundred years
c) be over-efficient and make calculations for the next couple of thousand years
d) be a total lunatic and start a calendar that goes on forever and ever
i think it's pretty logical that every calendar has a last day, wouldn't you say? it doesn't mean everything's going to end...

like the moon causes tides, same way ,human body is made up of 70% water, hence there is also an effect on the human body itself, also there r many other energies at play which effect the mind, senses, emotiions,behavious etc etc of various individuals on earth,,their are various energies which come into play from the celestial plane effecting life on earth, planets, and other celestial objects have a very certain influence. observing small celestial cycles, and over a period of time,larger cycles may help predict objective futures.
you must look at earth as a living,breathing,eating,drinking living organism, as in it breathes(through winds), it has heat, it produces oxygen,water, there is constant evolution and to a visible eye a conciousness as in the earth is aware of what is happening on it, and reacts to it(how does earth react to global warming? it reacts to stimuli), similarly all celestaial objects have a life force,since there is life, there must also be death,hence there is are cycles of life and death, of evolutions , many many societies, like you said chinese,vedic,mayan, or whichever talk of these cycles, in indian mythology there are the 4 Yugs, kalyug,satyug etc etc each divided into very specific time periods, they are nothing but celestial cycles which the humans have come to recognise over time.it is a very natural process. we are not dying or dead, we are immortal, forever, we r one with everything in the universe, we dont die we just change form, like science say ( energy can neither be created, nor destroyed),, i dont know what is supposed to happen on 2012, i been told that a very selected few individuals will experience a drastic alteration/transformation in their conciousness,raising them to some so called higher plane, while the rest of the humans on planet earth won't feel a thing, and will carry on as if nothing had happned. only thing to do is to prepare yourself well, to get the mind cleaned and prepared orderly. and body healthy and fit,a certain calmness,stilness,inner calm and complete dissolvment of self or ego and trancending to the astral plane before the parmatma decends down into the atma, when the ocean decends into the drop.supposedly it will awaken various new senses ( by activating and forming new Neuron connection within the brain , activating the sleeping part of the brain,they say the sensation is like of burning) along with the senses, many many more such detailed transformations have been explained in various esotoric literature. all i can say is you will make ur own reality so become it.

k i get the connection between celestial objects and earthlings.
energy can neither b created nor destroyed;yes its always present,
u saying we need to prepare ourselves spiritually thru yoga meditation understanding the energies to gain n wake a higher level of sense n conciousness.
P.S:our earth has survived many cycles, before the mayans also.it has lived for billion of years.as Outolintu said pretty logical that every calendar has a last day, it doesn't mean everything's going to end... "

what i'm saying is, it is a natural process, if the changes are happening inside you naturally already then you will know. and since you already switched on then you must become ready completly.do not wait for something to happen, but make the effort and make it happen.with the divines grace as the driver it should manifest itself natrually,my english not sooo good to explin all this,cant express in words, but i'm pretty sure you can learn the truth by seeking yourself

Id love to know if there is really something about it.But I doubt I will get a convincing answer. I know lots of population on our planet uses astrology regularely especialy in asia,and for sure not only hippies.
But comparing some online astro services there are definetly different wich makes it even more sceptical.I confess sometimes Im curious and read it and find there is some truth in it while my friends tell me this is bullshit and dont believe in this time waste, or do not let someone else dictate what to do.. but a sometimes (rarely in life) im curious

Astrology has a long history passed all around the world, made thier own interpretations. mainly the masses refer to western astrology, n parts of asia refer to vedic / chinese astrology. the western astrology is outdated, maybe correctly predicted 3000 years ago, as u know our universe is moving n changing, the sun no longer comes in same constellations as the current zodiac signs use in the western astrology. this is wher the position of the sun in the constellation.
Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17.
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.
vedic astrology has interested i a lot, it not only refers to human behaviour, but also connects to healing/energizing mind body with crystals/gemstones n much more.
conclusion all the astrology came from a one source.
astrological predictions which u see online or on tv/newspaper is not entirely true.its just a guideline.
just depends what u r looking for.
a lot of things also depends on the space/earth electromagnectic/geomagnectic field.the babas in this forum can explain u in detail about the science of it.

Hey TimeTraveller, I'm Gemini and Dragon too I think it's a pretty bad ass combination, myself
minus, I also use the example of the moon on the tides relating to celestial bodies having an effect on us and thereby giving some credence to astrology. What I wonder is, the sign is assigned at birth, but why then? It's been forming for the past 9 months in the womb, does it not get affected during that time?
As for the calendar, mine ends December 2011. I am preparing for that fateful day...
...when I have to buy another one.
