Astrix is Avi Shmailov, an amazingly talented 25 years old "wonder boy" from Israel.
His achievements within the trance scene are considered remarkable.
He released his block buster debut album "Eye to eye" (HOMmega) in 2002 and since than
he has traveled the world many times over headlining at major festivals like Germany's Full Moon, Japan's Gathering, Brazil's Solaris,… And in clubs of every major city (NY - Avalon, LA - Avalon, Washington – Nation, Toronto – Guverment, Copenhagen – Amager Bio,…)

Astrix's UK affair started at the legendary Tyssen street club.
From there he moved on to the well respected Stratford Rex and SE1
until climaxing in mega events held at the Brixton Academy and the launch
of his latest album "Artcore" (HOMmega/2004) at Alexandra Palace.

In 2003 he compiled his first Psy-Trance compilation for a UK label –
TIP World. His tracks have been used in UK compilations by leading DJ's
such as John "00" Fleming (Joof) and John Askew (Radio Kiss) and
he made remixes for the likes of Infected Mushroom and GMS.

The time has come for Astrix to strike back with another UK compilation.
"Psychedelic Academy" features the cream of the best Israeli trance tracks.
Like in his own music, Astrix manages to combine the psy trance elements with clubbier trance
giving him a credible crossover appeal. The music in this mix is both futuristic and forward thinking
with a lot of uplifting moments that grab the attention of many music lovers from all sides of trance.

The track-list of the first CD is impressive - 12 new tracks by the top of the Israeli trance scene and mixed by the master - ASTRIX.
Everyone who was in Astrix's sets know his excllent skills and mixes, so I sure this compilation won't disappoint me.
Best of luck for Astrix, just keep blow dance-floors around the world.

Yes, sounds good, but IMO mixed Cds are worse than unmixed...

Anyway, all the best for this release.

Hmm.... I love hearing a well done studio mix CD.... good studio mixes are becoming a rare thing, unmatched since Top of the Tips way back when, but if you're going to include a bonus CD, why not have the bonus CD be the unmixed tracks? Instead of a bunch of previously released tracks?

Anyway, looking forward to it regardless... looks like promising tracks...

Nice to see Hommega on a roll. Seems like another smashers of an album coming our way compiled by the master himself. Looking forward to the release, what date can we expect it to hit the stores?
P.S - Is Astrix- Follow me the same as Astrix vs Michele - Closer to heaven??

Agree...this is the 3RD time you have released Coolio rmx Eyal, why???

All the songs on the 2nd CD are released and eveyrone has them already, so why release them again?

New CDs are supposed to have the newest and freshest tracks on them, so why not release the tracks on an un-mixed CD?

Either way, the first CD sounds great but the second I think is a waste of your resources.

here is a little explanation that might shed some light on some of your questions:

The situation in the UK with distribution is not so good as there are only distribution companies who are willing to distribute your products in the UK only if you give them the right to distribute your label worldwide or only if you are a UK based label.

Club Republic is a new UK label specialising in compilation albums (www.clubrepublic.co.uk). The Astrix compilation was produced by HOMmega but will be released by this UK label in all major shops and chainshops in the UK. As regular sales in the UK are really low, we see this UK project as a chance to be exposed to a whole new brand of crowd.

We were asked to compile the 2nd CD as a "best of..." that consists of the tracks that went down really well in the last 2 years in all the HOMmega/Antiworld parties (SE1, Brixton Academy, Alexandra Palace) in the UK and that is exactely what we did.

All i can tell you is that Astrix made one of the best compilations out on HOMmega ever. Every track is a winner and the mix is flawless. To be released in the UK and worldwide in May 2005. ENJOY!
