I need some music suggestions from people who have a similar or exact same taste in music. I LOVE to listen to the following...

Infected Mushroom - all albums
Shpongle - all albums
Prometheus - Robot O Chan
Violet Vision - all albums
and the recent Chemical Mafia - Mafia

When I say "LOVE", I mean that I believe those artists produce the epitome of electronic music. This my opinion of course, and I hope that some of you feel the same.

If you LOVE at least 3 of the artists I listed above, could you please recommend some other artist/albums to me please? If you only like infected mushroom or only like prometheus, please don't recommend anything. I just want suggestions from people who have a VERY similar opinion, so that this post doesn't turn into huge random music suggestion thread; I also don't want to end up shelling out lots of cash on music I think is just "ok".

Check out Spirallianz, Midi Miliz, X-dream, the DELTA, Triac, opsis, Igneous Sauria....

but really, good luck.. there's just too many artists that make that style of music...

try this..

www.saikosounds.com and choose for yourself because some will say this artist sounds like that artist, and another person would say they are totally different..           "VA - REWIRED" OUT NOW !! (techtrance invasion) ---> http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/86303/forum/9

Thanks for the replies, but I'm not looking for a very specific genre. If someone on this forum likes a few of those artists as much as I do, then their preference in music is bound to be similar to mine whether it's psy or jazz.

Preferably I'm looking for electronic suggestions (trance, house, psy, dnb, triphop, ambient, chill); anything like those. Hopefully someone with similar taste will stumble on this thread

I don't have exactly the same taste as you but I'll make a few suggestions of albums that are similar to some of those mentioned:

The Misted Muppets - From The Legend (reminds me about Infecteds older style)
Shulman - Soundscapes and modern tales (sounds like shpongle in many ways)

You could also try albums from Entheogenic. They're quite shpongleish. Give some albums and compilations from Twisted Records a shot too! Good luck with your quest

Thanks for the suggestions guys

traveller, I'll definitely try some of those "life is..." compilations as well as some of the other artists you've mentioned.I have "Life is...Creation" and it's one of my favorite comps of chilled music.

opus in green, you are right in that I love strong distinct melodies. I haven't heard raga ram so I'm certainly going to give them a listen.

just to make it clear: he's called "raja ram" not "raga ram". normally I wouldn't care about a typo (because I guess I do quite a lot of them myself lol) but it's quite important to know the exact name when you'll look for info and stuff about him. he doesn't release music with this alias, he only does dj-sets with it. But he collaborates with other artists and together they have projects like: shpongle, 1300 mics, the infinity project (I think he was in it too, might be wrong though) and probaby more that I just can't remember right now. uhhm, you could also check the "raja ram's stashbag" compilations. It's the dude himself who picked other artists' tracks and mixed them to fit into eachother. Many people complain about poor mixingskills on 'em but at least there are some nice tracks. But I'd prefer the originals.

Time to sleep...

Have they added an extra 100 micrograms? Wasn't enough?           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

Haha how ironic, I wrote a post because "opus in green" spelled an artists name wrong, and then I did the same But I wasn't all wrong though. There's a reason I thought "1300 mics" instead of "1200 mics". Beacause they both exist. I don't know which people are involved in the different two projects though but I'd guess Raja Ram is in them both. I don't think he has anything against 100 extra micrograms of psychedelic substances

If you like shpongle (who doesnt?): Son of the Light, Shulman, Entheogenic, Dub Trees (and other Youth projects). And Angel Tears!

Robot-o-Chan- I feel like Im disrespecting this great alblum by making comparisons, but that said I would reccomend Waterjuice, Ceiba records chill out comps, stuff that Youth is involved in, and although its total mainstream and not related to the psyscene at all my instincts tell me that a person who loved Robot-o-Chan might like the Future Sound of London alblum "The Isness".
As to Violet Vision: As w/ Robot-oChan I love VV and I cant think of anything that compares. Maybe check out Blowfish and other stuff on Finish labels, but that isnt all that similar. Id like to hear what other VV fans reccomendations are...

I havent heard the recent Chemical Mafia but if you like Exaile Id reccomend you Lemurians and Cosmo Chaos (both on SST)

If you like Violet Vision, you might possibly like some slightly more experimental electronica such as black dog productions, aphex twin maybe even. Then again, maybe you won't at all.
As for Robotochan, for some reason BLT pops into mind; it is not all that similar, but those 2 albums (I am talking about anything you want) are pretty much the only 2 fullon oriented albums i have liked recently. (I don't consider 12 Moons fullon really).
In fact, I recommend 12 Moons highly for someone that likes melodies.
As for the side of you that likes shpongle, shulman and the like, Androcell is highly highly recommended. Also, that new Phutureprimitive album sounds nice; haven't heard it yet as I should though.
Peace           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.
