my question is, at what point does the mp3 mafia get to the music? usually before its released so they may have hold of the actual wav files before they are burned on the cd's.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Wondering how they get to the unreleased tracks. Unless the artists give it to them.

I wonder if it will work.

1. I'm sure it will cause problems with normal CDs, like older models not supporting it.
2. It will take some 13 year old computer wiz half an hour to make a crack.
3. What will happen with CD copying software that copy bit per bit???
4. Will it influence the price of CDs???           Please REMOVE my cellphone number from any SMS spam list you may have. Thanks.

The disc has two sets of music tracks: one set of "encrypted" songs that can be handled by CD players but cannot be ripped on computers...

Just another journalistic BS. Everything that can be played on regular CD Player, can be ripped on computer.

As for the whole idea, i think that this will not change the situation in the Trance scene.
I beleive that the only solution here is an education.           -=Lead System Designer=-

Wait, wasn't this 'protection' the one where you just scribble a bit with a marker and voila, one unprotected CD?           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

you can play it with regular cdplayer and just record the stream from input..

you can even do it digitally..

what's the point of creating copy protections?           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

This is so stupid. Show me a "pro-swap" CD and then I'll start applauding. Bring on the 30 cent markers!

i dont know if that the one im holding now, but a new cd i bought from novamute, is having a logo saying "copy controlled" and its nice but aint stands in the way while my friend try to open it in wavelab, maybe its only the logo protected, not the media

as cyberpunk says, nothing will stand on te way of copying, only one thing that is hard to find this days, some loyalty and respect for art and artists.

but that a hard thing to educate.
i ask few times people from here, how come you aint buy or pay somtimes for the music?
the answer i got was, how can i afford this?
i got so many other expenses...

people aint see copying music as a crime.
thats the main problem.
and even if it will be seen as a crime, people in trance scene, cant see it still as a big risk, cause we do other illegal things almost every week, like drugs, alchohol, partying in forbidden theritorys, so what fear we can have from burning at home some cd's???

donno, i buy records for so long, and i think its great feeling, i can eat less maybe but will buy music, i recomend anyone to try it...
its still makes me feel high !

i really don't believe that someone who can afford using internet/buying computer/etc cannot afford buing cds every now and then..

right, no technologie will help in this case but only personal moral and education.
i was buying my music even when i ws in army, lack of money at all, but somehow i found this ability for 3-4 cds per month.
buying music is a only way for you to show (first of all to yourself) that u r music lover, not another drug user that with music bang his head better.
its a question of priorities, when someone (most) think that music its a final priority, after parties and cafe and keds and mc donalds, so sure they wont buy music, since too mane things before in a wishlist.
make new priorities, where music will take high place, at least if u wanna think about yourself as serious music lover.
and its clear like nice day, new record is so sexy on libido level, just try it:))           Believe your soul !

How about just playing the CD on a CD player and recording on the computer ??

this is BS, it's impossible to secure it!

as long as there are copy protections there will be cracks...software companies, record companies and all other corporations have been making copy protections for years and someone always cracked it...and it's not about to change...that's why I love this planet           DJ Dovla | Interchill Records, Flow Records
