I was wondering if to do remix of a track you need the HD from the person who did the track?
Or you just need the track?
Or some other kind of info?

Thanks.

So, you can only remix a song if the artist who made that track gives you the files?
Everytime you want to make a remix you must ask the artist for the files?
Thanks.

Other ways? How can you lift a synth sample from the bass/kick without the file?? I want the program that does that!

What are the other ways? You know a track that was remixed in this other way?
Respect!

u can ask permission and can not.
u can get files and then be able control more or u can use sampler and just take some part of trak u want to remix so u dont need file.
in short, u can that way and u can another way, u also can mix between both.           Believe your soul !

when you have the file you can get better results and of course the track can be released (you got the file from the artist didn't you??)
the other way is just taking the track, ripping it to your computer and using with your software. this option is usualy illeagal (to release, you can do whatever you want FOR YOURSELF) unless you contact the artist.
or you can compose everything from scratch by listening to the original piece, this way is really hard yet totally legal.

You just need to rewrite the melodies and use your own samples. Record samples from the original track. After all, a remix shouldn't be 100% like the original.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

I thinka lot deepnds on the country & what you intend to do with it. In the Uk record labels are pretty relaxed about samples or blatant rip off if they are just being pressed up on 500 or 1000 12"s. But if you are releasing it commercially - its a difernt story and youc ould get stung.

If I remember correctly - the Verve ended up having to pay out more than 100% in royalties for the sample in Bitter Sweet Sympony as they sampled heaviliy a Rolling Stones cover version (the violins) - so had to pay royalties to Jagger/Richards who composed it and to the people who did the cover they sampled - so they actully lost money on every tune sold... but of course it helped the album.

I was talking to someone who makes music and he once walked into a record shop to find a tune being played that was very familiar & he couldn't work out what it was - then realised that someone had just knicked the first 1/2 of one of his old tunes and put a different ending on it - he was quite entertained by the cheek of it!!

stas, you don't release it because you can't? or because you don't want to?
cuz afaik your version is legal, you didn't rip off samples from the original track.           REHAB is for quitters
