you know what annoys me about the trance family? on the local and lower tiers of artists and DJ's its all a big circle jerk with everyone telling each other how great everyone is, and if they don't think its great, the just keep their mouths shut. but as soon as someone starts to reach a wider audience than just the inner circles of psytrance, all of a sudden its fair game for loads of people to come out of the woodwork with something negative to say.

i know, i know, its a discussion that's been had here many times. for some reason, though, this thread made me want to rehash the subject.

i think this is indeed the case. however, this phenomenon is not limited to psy, as i see the same thing in metal and idm scenes at least, but is probably the case just about anywhere. and the reason for that i'm guessing has to do with expectations. if you are an unknown local who's just been playing around with dj'ing/producing on the weekends for a few years while dealing with life, people probably keep that fact in mind when giving feedback. it's also easier to separate the musicality or originality or other things like that from just technical things, so people can still give some positive feedback on the mixdown, even if they don't like that kind of music. as opposed to a professional artist/musician with label releases and world-wide touring schedule. it's taken for granted that people on that level know what they are doing, so then it all comes down to whether the music touches you or not.

and i guess it's kind of good on one hand, because people can overlook technical deficiencies or lack of experience and comment on the good things that are there, instead of being like "i played your track back to back with a track by INSERT YOUR FAVORITE PRO PRODUCER HERE and yours sounded like a total piece of poop and you should totally kill yourself cause you suck at life, n00b, LOL." people don't get discouraged and keep going and some of them do get to that next level.

but once you are there, all bets are off. haters gonna hate...

very interesting indeed.           https://soundcloud.com/dead-end-dance

Decide for yourself... it's on Bandcamp so you can try before you buy.

I don't even know you guys, but I've been listening to both your tunes on soundcloud today and I'm really liking it. Thanks!

I have DJ/producer friends who I can't listen to these days cos their stuff irks the crap out of me (didn't used to, that's how we became friends in the first place). But I do tell them that straight out. cos we're friends and that will never change.

Howzabout getting back to the topic of this Andromeda album. Production is spotless and I can tell the artist put a lot of effort into every sound. That to me is awesome. But the music... If he were my buddy I'd roll my eyes at him. Especially if we shared the same musical roots and got off on the same music together once upon a time. But that's ok. people go in their own direction and that's part of the magic of it all.

Its already 3 rd topic about that album we found on that forum. Anyway thanks for giving you feedbacks, good or bad. It's a quite controversal album indeed. Especially count that it was signed to our label 4,5 years ago and not untill this summer it is ready.

And that's what is all about (imo ), at a certain point your neurons get tired of gunshot, sonar pings and unrelentless rollercoasters and fell the need to breathe and watch the flowers dance           Tudo que é melhor e mais superior em mim saúda tudo que é melhor e mais alto em si

I liked and bought the album... nice production except for the cheap vocals and some cheesy parts which I think is indeed pretentious.

Equilibrium is the best track for me and the one that made me buy this album. Inharmonic Symphony is killer aswell.

I think he means that the label signed Andromeda to make the album 4 or 5 years ago, and in the meantime (so I gather) Andromeda has, shall we say, furthered his exploration of music in general to include more influences in his writing, so the kind of album that Vertigo expected him to write when the album was signed, was not the kind of album that he actually made.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Lol, that's what i imagined, but couldn't believe they were saying it in a forum , if it was not what they were expecting, maybe not distribute it under the Label? Don't think Andromeda would have any problem putting it outhere...           Tudo que é melhor e mais superior em mim saúda tudo que é melhor e mais alto em si

My guess is that they were honouring the contract. Just cos the Isra-purists don't like it doesn't mean it's a bad album and not worth releasing!           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
