B O R I N G

well it's just me or the dark era need to stop?
no limits 4 this overtalked style..
at first it was intresting.. unusuall sounds from some great artists..
but now.. in the past year , artists # are now bigger then the stars.
too much dark.
all the dark tunes made stuff as Gow/Jahbo/Xeno/Penta and other "dark" artists sounds nothing but another fish in the sea.

where is the happyness and intelegent psy that flood us in the last 2 years?
i guess i'll have to wait 4 some "mushroom" psy artists to release somthing.
(tvs/zoolog/alrune/tamlin/the suomi group and more).

ti'll then i'll stay with my copy of Schizm .

well what u think?

Boom.

ya right!! after YEARS fo suffering first thru minimal trance then years of full on fluff.... FINALLLY the intensity and deep psychedlic vibration is getting out there ..

some artists in this style have stopped and started making commerical appealing fluff but there are so many out there making unique crazy music..jellyheadz..derango..dejan..ocelot..fractal cowboys..ghreg on earth..
meteloids..osom..

either way this style is still the minority..most psy parties worldwide feature the same ole fluff over and over again...so thanks to labels like paravati deja vu and mistress of evil and dicovalley(etc) for putting the madness out there...yayay

big peace!~

there is a time and a place for everything.. up to the organiser to give the right spot to the right person.. and give as many as possible people a good time.. cant alwyas have it the way u would like it..
good music is good music.. and yetzur ye i agree many new dark stuff sounds awfully alot the same but that is something ull see in every style. doesnt mean dark music cant be intelligent.. for instance penta.. nomatter what u think of him im pretty sure he has quite a unique style.. every track he makes u hear its penta.. thats what its about no? having a personality..and putting in it in your music..

and again about the parties itself.. the organisers often think too much about themselves and not enough about giving people the best possible time..

ps: yes please more mushroom music!

ps2 alien (i wont start risking my life on writing ur name actually and mess it up hehe) but was really nice to meet you this summer and hope i get my ass in SF soon sometime give a big hug to the crew there
ill push u over the edge, and will be smiling when u cant take anymore, at that point ill push a little harder till u experience true psychdelica

I dont know about this whole "dark" thing...
i think its a silly word and a mis-label at best.

theres music thats either partly or mostly composed (besides the usual drums, etc...) of 'musicy bits' - little tonal sequences that match the various scales and represent 'melodies' to us- psytrance of this sort has the unspoken mission to stimulate the emotions and sentiments through melody.

then there is music that plays more with sound design, space, and overall timbre. this stuff pays attention to rhythm and timbral variation (of which pitch is merely a constituent)
psy trance of this sort has the unspoken mission of eschewing melody of a known or recognizable sort (unless the sound is severely fucked up.) and instead aiming for interesting rhythmic sequences of sound arranged with various pleasing timbral variations.

the former or latter styles of psytrance can vary in composition depth in terms of the number of layers of 'stuff' happening in the mix. (minimal to thick)

the relationship between the different layers varies depending upon how the various layers frequency spectra combine in the time domain- certain frequences can resonate or dissonate in the mix together... (this is why i tune my kick drum to the bassline for each pattern...)

i think there is a whole range of possibilities in terms of psytrance and to divide the scene into two camps- that even profess to call themselves "DARK" and "LIGHT" or whatever- this is SILLY

oh i forgot- there's minimal/progressive, there's full-on/groovy/popular, there's dark/hard/night, there's just plain dark and deep, there's just plain hard, there's uplifing and hard, there's funky and hard, and these are just words so what the FUCK.

i want to hear good original music.
i don't want to hear bad original music but one can't start with perfection in endeavors of an artistic nature. i definately don't want to hear any more good unoriginal music, and especially no more bad unoriginal music.
i am open to different sensibilities of sound but this STYLE thing HAS to go- its such bullshit...

Nice to see this subject beeing taken up more "Objective"...
In isratrance forum threads usualy end with some bozos claiming to be the bearers of all knowledge.... and on the last 3-10 pages of the thread its just bitcing... :]

Well to retur to the subject...
Both Funki and Ocelot have some very nice points...

Imo: Most people tend to take all trance in one category.... but we must remember that inspiration is diffrent from person to person...
At the moment the mostpopular music in the trance scene is Dark/full on... but its far from the only style...
Here in Denmark (Aarhus)we used to listen alot to Funky music (suomi style) but now its mostley Kdd/Gow/Digital Talk etc.
But still there are some people incl. my self who make and is inspired by all the more Jolley funky music out there....

So its just a matter of fashion... not many years ago the kick had to be big and hollow.. now it must be hard and short...
its not just fashion i think... its also a product of The collective psyche... cause people would have hated the short hard kicks 10 years ago...
So when new ideas are implanted into the collective psyche we just follow it like lemmings over a cliff...
This meaning that even thou i dident like this kind of beat 10 years ago i like it now... not by choise but by "Collective psyche Fashion" :]

Well people...
my point is... just go with what u feel... dont play dark music cause u know it works on the dance floor... play Ur music.... it will work on the dance floor (ur not the only one who like it)
3 out of 10 people get a Super psy expirience is better than 8 of 10 get a somewhat half good feeling... IMO

P.s: if needet just tell the ppl telling u ur music sux to fuck off....

("IMO" must be THE best short....)

maybe a big problem is the conformity.. lot of people actually aim to sound exactly or as much the same as possible to the music that is most successfull at the time being.. people unconsciously being pushed in a direction that maybe is not even their own.. hey this seems to work well with the people.. let me try this also..or just from listening too much the same music.. flattens ur imagination.. makes u get stuck in those musical cages everyone is making up every day

like for one i dont understand artists that r stuck to making only one style of music.. like only dark.. only happy... only this.. only that...
wtf??
what are you ..? robots??
what real human can say he/she feels the same everyday? the music that u make should be a reflection of ur own life and they way u are or feel..
making only this.. or only that.. reduces ur being human
so much space for being urself.. the whole you in all ur moods.. and desires.. not just the one to want to be the next succesfull clone

imho           ill push u over the edge, and will be smiling when u cant take anymore, at that point ill push a little harder till u experience true psychdelica

For me there has always been morning music and night music.
I like my night music dark and my morning music more melodic and uplifting.
Sure some artists is better at making night muisc for example, but you don't need to call all who make morning muisc fluffy because of that.

I think both artists and CD buyers is to blame for the conformity thou. People is stubborn in their taste, and artists many times just wan't people to like their stuff.
