I'm not trying to attack or get in to a stupid argument, but how in earth do you figure that a lot of 'blue' nicks = a lot of talented music people?. I know a lot of people that doesn't release their music (for personal reasons), and many of them produces far more sophisticated and advanced music then many of the 'blues'. I just don't see your connection, especially thinking how easy it can be to get a track made and puplished. ..but sure, it's nice to see so many people involving them self in the music production part of things wanting to create something nice and be a part of a larger cosmic phenomenon. It's all good % I don't want to complain ^^

Well, the way i see it is, i think it's a great thing that more people are making music. I don't disagree that the talent on an average person to person basis maybe lower quality today than what it was before, but i think it's awesome that technology has allowed us to be able to create music in our home on our own pc.'s (in many cases their parents pc's ) .... I think it's a good thing.
Many people thought that they never had the capability of creating an attractive sound, and may have never even tried making music if they didn't feel inspired by someone who made kick ass music on their own pc. Inspiration is a good thing, and if someone feels inspired enough to learn a music program and try to create music with it, then i can only see that as positive.
A lot of people will tell you many times in your life that you can't do this or that you can't do that, because of this and because of that. Whoever listens to this has all ready given up on themselves and their dreams. That's what dreaming is about, reaching for the stars, going after something out of the ordinary, and the only way you will be able to get it is by just doing it.
Back on topic, maybe the mods can tell us if more people are on the forum now than a few months ago.

UNFORTUNATELY yes this forum grew really big.
And i say unfortunately because when a forum grows to big then it looses its identity due to the big numbers of users and posts made each day.
Its not easy to define what a forum identity really is but those who were members in this place in its very early years probably will understand what i am trying to say here.
You see years ago a topic would start and the discussion would evolve really nicely with many interesting and informative points provided by the users who were very well informed on what was going on in the scene at that time.Topics were just keep going on for months sometimes with really interesting aspects appearing every day.
Today someone opens a topic and there are so many users and so many opinions on the same topic in a very short time that most people that really have something important to say dont even bother posting anything concerning any subject because most of the users in our days are just interested in making their own posts and say what they got in their head rather than read first what the others say and then express their own opinion.
So many users (including myself lately) dont bother answering on many interesting topics because A)In half an hour their post will dissapear because of the many answers that will come up B)People dont bother reading other people's posts and C)Very often people who dissagree create fights over unimportant matters or use public topics to develop personal discussions instead using the PM System.
This forum used to be a gathering place for 200-300 people who interacted with each other not only through the forum but on many other levels sometimes personal sometimes privately through the net away from the forum,through email exchange,MSN,telephone conversations and many more.Now with all these thousands members in here its impossible to get to know some people better and develop a better relationship with them.
I used to exchange personal messages on a daily basis with 20-30 people from this forum back in the old days and had in my MSN chat list another 20 of them and even spoke on the phone once a week with some of them and arranged meetings when possible or send things to each other using snail mail.Today i dont have any contact with almost any of them and its a matter of chance if i speak with an old forum friend on MSN once every two weeks for just 5-10 minutes.
This forum used to have a warm familly feeling,a feeling like being part of a team or something,of a small special community,something like that anyway.
This feeling has long been lost for me at least.
Sometimes smaller is better.
