what u call trance is induced by the frequency following syndrome that we all have when we hear a rhythm that is not random. That is in fact the reason why humans started making music, because it entrances them. The music we call trance is made to take this frequency following syndrome to it's paroxysme. By staying between 120-160 u are on the most influential speeds for frequency following syndrome (about twice ur heartrate). A very straight rhythm is best (hence the kick every beat and the bass every 16th). If u are sober u will hardly notice this frequency following syndrome (only if u know what u are feeling for and if u concentrate), but when on amphetamines the effect of frequency following syndrome is multiplied... U can feel the difference if u take amphets without music, and then the same amphets with music... This is where the trance comes from... In fact, every music genre does this since every music genre has a non-random rhythm... But only electronic music really tries to take it to it's paroxysm.

If u want an example, look at voodoo and other african religions... They use a very simple straight rhythm on a very simple percussion instrument to entrance everyone... That's all u need, a drum and some rhythm...

Lucid - i am not sure, but i think on liquid crystal vision, frequencies are discussed in there..but i am not sure..

(in the part that kode IV speaks about producing)

but i can b totally mistaken.          ...

what are you writing your thesis on lucid?

I am interested in observable neural effects of beat frequencies on brain synchronization and oscillating populations of neurons.

some places to start your brain tuning

Off topic: shit man. I wish I was as smart as you guys. Talking about neural effects of beat frequencies on brain synchronization and oscillating populations of neurons and stuff. very impressive. hm, *feels stupid/uninformed*

hehe that is just BS psychology jargon about the possibility of inducing non ordinary states of concsiousness via the auditory cortex/ beat patterns at various frequencies...

see the theory is that when processing stimuli populations of neurons get recruited which results in them firing together. IF this occurs at some frequency then different conscious states might be associated with specific frequencies of neural oscillations therefore it might be possible to manipulate conscious states by inputing different frequencies into the brain through visual or auditory systems. . .trance state is induced by repetitive basslines. . .have you ever had this experience? Why is trance most effective at certain bpms?
