just my 2 cents. i would rather see a good dj set anyday than a typical *live* lap top set.
A real live set is better than a dj, but most lives arent that
there is more skill involved in being a good dj, than in standing behind a lap top and using ableton to just "play" your music and not make it.

you are too funny man... u can try as hard as you can to speak here nicely, but a snake stays a snake no matter what. not going down to my level, hehehee. good one man...
paradigm, youre 2cents have nothing to do with his false adverstising.. that was my point, good carma knows that he will pull less by saying "dj set" so he doesnt do it... thats lame in my opinion and thats why i said it!

Gadi, if there were a trance police, you would definately be the Chief ... Can we not for once just be chill, I am from Belgium and all the parties I attended in Europe are so peaceful, everyone (promotors and trance heads)are friends, no debates, no competition between organizers ...
I had a great time at El Nadiv's parties(DJ and Live) and encourage him to keep on throwing them, we should support and admire ppl like him who still organize parties without thinking about making money and going commercial.

i encourage him to keep throwing them as well, thrwoing parties in ny isnt easy and he is doing a service that only a few have dared to do in a good manner. i just wish he was more honest about his advertising, since people are paying for a service, thats all. just because he is doing a party and its blessed doesnt give him immunity to manipulate.

From my experience the live sets are usually disappointing, perhaps because many of the live sets are pre-recorded and do not have the flexibility of a dj set. With a dj set, the dj can always change what he's playing, and that flexibility makes the party more fluid, more of a living entity.
We are not as stupid as some people seem to think and are quite capable of understanding that if the schedule doesn't specify "live" then it must mean dj set!
Alladin crew, from my perspective your parties have all been very enjoyable and you really seem to know what you are doing, so please keep up the good work. I, for one, am looking forward to your next party.

i think its a shame that ure so used to being cheated , that u prefer a dj set than a live act. what attracted me to the psychedelic scene was the fact that had more live sets than other styles , who were more dj oriented... so it doesnt surpriser me that in our scene u wouldnt care about that,being the dj a more prominent aspect of a party.. I hope one of these days u get to see a real live act,, i recall one of the best experiences on psytrance (if not the best) was seeing hux flux perform LIVE, and i mean LIVE.. or medicine drum,, blows ur mind away. there is a big difference between cd mixing and live acts.. i know there are a lot of fakes out there, but the problem is that most of the time people dont care about , the music, if played live or dj..thats what makes the producer and the artist say: hey , what the hell, nobody cares really about that,,, we just get our cash and will not risk our very valuable and precious equipment... people are as happy with a dj set .... so what the helll!! so thats what u get.
And i really think its WRONG to advertise ETNICA if just one of the guys is going to dj set , i dont now ur scene , but im sure everywhere, thats fraud! ....

Wow medicine drum... I remember when they played at VIP lounge in NYC years ago. That was really something! I have pretty much given up on seeing anything like that again. Sure I would love to see more live sets, Im just saying I prefer to hear that Im getting a DJ set and get a DJ set rather than hear Im going to get a live set and get a dj set or a halfassed live set.
As to Etnica.... Im not going to pass judgment until I see the party, but it does seem like they could say the guys name and then say "of Etnica" to make things clearer. I wouldnt mind if good carma himself (selves?) would explain to us exactly what he (they?) means rather than leaving us to speculate.
Oh! And while on the topic of live sets... is the half-faked live set a big problem the world over or just here? If so is it because they think we dont care (we do!) or are they dissing us because it's the USA (I hope not!) |

I was out of town for the last two weeks , and just finished reading this disscussion.
elnadiv & eyal I give u the full support after all wothout u guys the scene is almosty dead.
to b fare I would say avoid wrong description , write exacly what u offer , u guys doing a great job ur parties r beautifull I enjoyed all the last ones.
as a musician I can say that a lot of the live acts today r preaty much bullshit as far as the word "live" true meening. it mostly an already mixed set of tracks played from a software plus a few tune from a synth here and there, and mostly old music. dj set r more - get some fresh music from my opinion.
I think some board peaple eating their hart and mixing some personal felling here more than opinon , but dont pay attention to that its below ur level , who ever came to ur last parties defenetly had a good time.
I support u all the way and just because I love & cant live without trance keep the vibe.
Im going to florida on satarday and realy hope I will make it on time for this party.
