Hello Guys, for 3 or 4 days, I've been looking over this forum, and also over the web for many, reading topics from 2008~2012,
I did learn many things that I've no idea,
but didnt get to learn what I'm looking for...this is the first topic i've ever made asking for production tips...
I want to get into a strong, distorded and twisted leads as Alienn and Stereopanic and many others psy-trance fullon night Producers.
Here are 2 examples from eachother,
Alienn:
03:06 - something insane, eh?
Stereopanic:
6:35 - shapes of sounds!?
I don't want patches, I want to learn how get into this "kind" of sound, tips...
I once asked stereopanic, if he uses the same cuteoff automotion when its get fullon, he said:
"somethimes yes.. depends how many sound I put.. Some times I use shapes of sounds"
didn't ask more tho, dont want to bore him...
thanks alot guys, and btw tell what You think about this "fullon night", haven't seen anything like that here, thanks again!

Hi!
Well, Fullon Night is a genre of psy trance, somewhat melodic but still aggressive. usually it plays between dark and Fullon Morning, and the genre is associated to artists like Azax Syndrom. I'd "label" the tracks you showed as Fullon night.
Regarding this type of sound, I believe it's the most seeked and used sound (particularly by a lot of mid-level portuguese psy producers.. it's in every single track), but nonetheless if it knowledge you seek I'll try to help you out.
Regarding the MIDI, that type of lead is usually a simple mixture between rhythm and groovy or aggressive melodies (abuse your flat 5ths and sharp root notes), played in a loop. You can make slow rhythms or fast, and you can use even a single note.
Regarding the sound design, first you must start with a noisy source: most of this is with detuned saw waves and some FM. You can saturate it and distort it, and since you're searching for a nice noisy tone, I recommend you put it though a compressor to tame the dynamic signal and peaks. An EQ can be of great use for carving you unwanted frequencies.
This leaves you with a nice khÔÔÔÔÔÔ tone, that you can play with using a filter (modulating the sound) - try the differences in the LP, BP and HP to see what you want. The idea is to get creative on the filter freq knob manipulating and automating it over time - this can function somewhat like your mouth - making the sound speak (but not as accentuated as a formant filter).
Try with different sources, synths and filters, and different modulation effects. The idea is to define the tone and than play with the tone, so try separating that in your mind, and please automate stuff / use LFO's and create something new out of all of this! hi,
what you might also want to try is an lfo on the pitch, im 90% sure that thats what those guys u posted are doing.
This melodies is made of layers. They also make layers it is not just one lead there is layers can be like 2-4 layers playing togethere to get that sound.
Fm,LFO pitch, Hipass and cutoff is what you should working with.

thanks alot for all those tips, Im really getting into the scene, as @Najt said, its all about layers, it sounds complete if everything fits, and theres no limitation! cuteoff rlly does da trick, still need to know how to use it properly tho...can't really make a melody, it doesnt sound good at all, even with scales, if its not note, it sounds good, wierd eh?
once again, thanks alot for everything!

When I saw detuned waves and FM I immediately thought of Synth1 and got instant useful riffs (thanks a million BTW). Is there a way to do this same sound in Sylenth or does it really need that FM good stuff to work?

Nop, FM isn't necessary at all, and Sylenth is more than capable of making these types of sounds.
What I tried to say was think about the sound design and not about the synth preset -> if you can get a nice noisy tone out of a synth and it can be a workable tone, than you can get that effect.
I like to try to exploit these "noisy sources", making them contrast with the track and the specific tune (it cant all be noise neither pretty sounds), and I ted to make different noise tones and mix them so one noise turns into another one over time / at specific locations - so you can play with different VST's (with / without FM) and make your tune evolve over time.
heres what i get following what <knocz> said...
It sounds nice! I'm pretty sure I can improve it! lead sks i know, just for test, took 3m
@Fungophago
I tried with lfo on the pitch as u said, it works if I use it as an "offlead", sounds even more "twisted", I will also look into dat post!
thanks alot guys!
Nice approximation, yet you can still work more on the filter cutoff: you shouldn't just set an LFO and leave it, but draw in almost "random" automations in syncopated intervals. Be more creative and spend time drawing in the automation (or record yourself playing a knob, and than slice up your automations.
