@shiranui+will+otherswhocare: i personally fought to make sure procs would be playing thru twilight, because i consider his music to be powerful daytime psychedelia. ghreg following after was a last minute change since the f. cowboys didn't show up, and although he is much darker then procs, he played a pretty squishy morning set, and even was able to make 170 bpm material at the end sound open and pleasant (IMO, of course).

konflux/aphid was perfect late morning vibes and kept the dancefloor going full power into the afternoon. i believe yr lineup idea would have the dancefloor dissipated shortly after sunrise.

i personally think the "darker" trance has a very special power during the twilight hours, and relish the opportunity to hear the right "dark" artist playing then. procs is not really dark in MY opinion, but i'm sure other people think he's the devils music. we put him in that timeslot because he makes some of the most unique twilight music i've ever heard, and you'd be hard pressed to find him playing this timeslot at any other major festival. consider it a gift to your eardrums

or don't, my opinions are usually disagreed w/ any ways.

SOOOOOOO True Great Great Ambient Stuff

By the way what time slot would be good for your set?
I would imagine Saturday evening around 8-9PM? True?

Thanks!
Well, let's see, it all just depends on what I'm doing - Androcell alone, Distant System alone, or both Androcell and Distant System together. I've played 2am Distant System sets and I've played 6am Androcell sets. I've played early evening, late afternoon, pretty much everywhere in between. It *really* all depends also on the type of event, as well. That's why I always leave it up to the promoter to judge what is best for their event and the people in attendance.
I can say that I played an Androcell / Distant System set in Texas a couple weeks ago and started an hour before sunset. The Androcell music transitioned nicely from the day into nightfall where an hour of Distant System in the dark had the crowd really moving. It felt right.

when you convey your opinions about someones art to them you are unintentionally imposing your own personal influence on their work.

when you say making things better who are you referring to making things better for the artists relationship to their craft or for your idea of whats better or for the general crowd? saying something is boring for the price is not constructive criticism. assuming that you should like an artist more because they have been paid or flown makes you hold them to a higher standard but is that person really anything different than some anonymous person who makes noises in their bedroom? im not as harsh as i seemed in type it was more all said while laughin:)

haha
thats what i mean the praise for the event and the thanks to its hard working organizers are stitched into the off cuff remark after being called out on the complaint

i know its not a big deal or even intentional but im just saying expressing your negative or positive impressions or opinions serves as a guide for people to determine whether or not they should attend other events similar to this... bad publicity only serves to discourage the efforts of the ones who brought this all into existence so why try to flow backwards.

Yep I knew your response will be some what similar to what you said.

I do not want to make this a Tennis match here. I will answer couple of your points though.

"assuming that you should like an artist more because they have been paid or flown makes you hold them to a higher standard but is that person really anything different than some anonymous person who makes noises in their bedroom?"

Hell yeah I am holding a professional artist to a higher standard 100% YES YES YES. Those artists that are flown here and ARE Headliners like the specific one we are talking about, need or at least expected to perform better then all else, otherwise why are they Headlining? Obviously a person would like someone more and someone less and that is why the discussion is open to all opinions and tastes.

"i know its not a big deal or even intentional but im just saying expressing your negative or positive impressions or opinions serves as a guide for people to determine whether or not they should attend other events similar to this... bad publicity only serves to discourage the efforts of the ones who brought this all into existence so why try to flow backwards. "

No guiding here at all. People that come to this forum KNOW what they will get and are Intelligent enough to make their own choices.

Yes for sure things typed are mostly not understood correctly.

You still haven't said what was bad about aphid moon's set...

edit: as for my criticism of the set times, I usually schedule my sleep/wake cycle as well as consumption of certain consumables with the expectation that peak activity will be around sunrise. This ended up not being the case (it seemed to me like the dancefloor peaked between midnight-2 or 3 am, and then peaked again when aphid moon came on) so I ended up in a slump at the times when I should have been on the dancefloor.

Also, sadly, my friend took the universe apart and forgot how to put it back together, so I had to guide him back to the car and show him the manual, which resulted in me getting seperated from the dancefloor between about 1 am and 4 or 5

By "manual" I hope you don't mean the gear-shift, cause nobody should operate a vehicle in that state...

I'll find the time for detailed responses later but for now all I have to say is you can please some people sometimes but you can't please all the people all the time...

Likewise, I personally did appreciate what transpired, despite all, and it was great to see old and new friends, alike. Thanks to *everyone* who helped make it an enjoyable time for those in atten"dance".

Peace and frequencies,
Tyler
