When the new Sub6 album came out, I listened to the samples on saiko, read reviews and asked around....cause for some reason it didnt grab me. So you know what I did to convince myself otherwise, I got the CD and now I LOVE IT!!! Dont judge a album before you get it, cause you will be suprised to the outcome!           :: Life can be as bitter as dragon tears

The first example of this happening to me with a trance release was with Darshan's Awakening. I bought it, listened 2-3 times, didn't like it at all and put it on the shelf. After 2-3 months, I was bored with the music I had, and decided to try it again. I got totally hooked. I still remember the feeling of awe when the album started with that heavy mysterious atmosphere.

The artist who's music grows with time mostly in trance for me is BLT. A lot of times I got something from Yuli and listenend to it and thought: "nice... OK...". But then after five times when doing something else completely I would suddenly get it. That's why I take good care, and always recommend others to do it, to listen well to Yuli's music. It takes times to sink, the brain needs to chew on it a bit. The most memorable example I think is Human Cube Factory, which I heard a lot of times and didn't really like. Then one day, I was sitting at the computer typing something, with a CD playing in the background when suddenly it hit me how amazing this track is. Like the pieces finally fell into place.

Another one that kept growing, and is still a favorite is Deedrah's Self Oscillation, my favorite Dado album, I still listen to it regularly.

And there's Cosma's Non Stop, which keeps revealing new things to me.

well, just to prove myself wrong again... i got the new wrecked machines yesterday- upon reviewing it, I found it average; but then I listened to it again today a couple of times and found it really interesting, much better than my first go at it.... just goes to show.

Now most people in this forum have been listening to the GOA sound for a number of years now. I'm also quite certain that we've all had listening experiences with some albums,VAs, or whatever over the course of time which did not float our boats. However, over the course time, after a more through listen, these pieces may've impressed the hell out of us. It's at that moment when we truly realize that the creation was a gem, but assumed terrible during the first n listens.

So guys, Let's share amongst ourselves albums that we didn't apperciate after a few listens, but find them astounding now. Describe the experience when it became amazing to you.

I'll start first:

Two albums that I thought weren't that great when I first heard them were:

Younger Brother - A Flock of Beeps
Entropy - Second Law of Thermodynamics

First time I heard Flock of Beeps, I thought some songs were nice, but I thought tracks 3-7 were quite boring at the time. Being a desk hermit for almost a year now, I have been listening to a lot of psychedelic ambient music. It usually helps me get through the day. A few weeks ago, I decided to give A Flock of Beeps a listen. OMG, I must've been a complete idiot the first few times I listened to that album. It is friggin pure genius. One might even say A MASTERPIECE. Up there with shpongle 1, IMO. I must've listened to Evil and Harm like 1000 times today. Marvelous!

When I heard second law of thermodynamics, I thought it was just another dark psy album. I was not impressed with it at all. Hell, goto the review thread in the cd reviews forum and I even stated that it was an average album.

Yeah it was average until I sat there and listened closely to Dish. That song was extremely creative and psychedelic. That one song made me go through the whole album again. I didn't regret it either. I think entropy is one of the best dark psy groups now. This is a dark masterpiece.

Didn't appreciate The Younger Brother album at first as well. Mostly cause half of it was already released and because of what i considered in the beginning poor mixing between the tracks.
Now i really love it. One of my favorite Twisted releases ever.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

I had this kind of experience lately with the Neelix album. I listened to it a couple of times and thought it was so so. And then I decided to listen to it some more and I suddenly realized I actually really liked it and was enjoying it. Same thing happened to me with the Orichalcum 'Live' release. Thought it was pretty boring at first, but only recently I've been listening to it more and more and it's just pure genius!           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. For me is Infected Mushroom - The Gathering. When I first heard that in a party I couldnt even dance to it because I was hearing cheezy nizhonot stuff then.
Somehow I rolled to Yahel and then heard more cool stuff I liked from psytrance, and then got The Gathering again.....
A big difference, great album.

Penta- The Penta Files...
The first couple of times I heard it, I couldn't quite understand it. I felt that it was mixing polar opposites together. (Dark & Melodic) It seriously took me 10 times of listening to it to really understand the statement Nikita was trying to make. Now it's one of my personal favorites.

u said it maite

Derango - Tumult

i feel this is one album which will keep growing on me ..           missing plug-in

Nice thread!!

Albums are a bit like women, no? Sometimes, you see a girl and think: "Wow! She's Gorgious!!!!" and you immediately feel attracted to her and want to love her... These are not usually those who last.....

Now, an album you really love on first listen might get pretty boring after a while.

Truly great albums, you find them a bit strange the first time, and after listening to them again and again they might suddenly hit you after the 6th listen an you can't stop listening to them!!

So my first choice here is:

°Radiohead - OK Computer° ... owned this album for months before starting tripping out . Album of the decade!!

Uh, is this Isratrance? Sorry... So here's my first psychoice:

°Panik - Racket Pocket° ... Found it a bit boring the first times, then I could not stop listening to it. Masterpiece!

°Hux Flux - Division by Zero° ... Someone else mentionned it. I felt the same! Actually, it got revealed to me when I listened to the live act at the Time Gate in 2003.

But usually, psytrance acts are "Love At First Sight", and that's why there are so many releases to take the place of the others...................           V/A Floating Mirror - OUT NOW - with Celles, Midimal, Electrypnose, Melodix, Troll Scientists, Yab Yum, Gaspard, Ajja, Cradle of Beats!
