check the cost if you build it yourself then compare to gik room kit price ,see if the price difference worth the time and work you will need to make them on your own(you can save a good amount of money). their bass traps might work better depending how you build them.(i guess they try many alternative to get the optimal product)

if you have the time and are proficient with tools and can build shit, build them yourself - significantly cheaper.

But yeah, there's a thread by orgytime called 2500 Euro to Waste! or something that has tons of links for acoustic information.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

The more bass traps the better.

Also early reflections treatment.

Check out the following places:

http://realtraps.com/index.htm

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/studio-building-acoustics/

You can get very technical if you wish using analysing software, you can find it here - http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/rew-forum/

But to be honest just use bass traps in all corners, put refraction and/or traps inearly reflection areas and you will be set.

all the best,
