Hey all. Sorry if this has been done to death but i have still yet to find good threads discussing using the Virus Ti for PsyTrance (funnily enough) I am really jacked up on buying a used Virus Ti. I want to produce/perform PsyTrance like Sun Control Species, GMS, Tsyoshi Suzuki, Talamasca etc. I can already produce satisfying kick and basslines, i really want a synth to do pads and delicious modern sounding techy bits that i can just grab by the nipples and TWEAK! Trying to explorer soft synths/VSTs is just so unproductive for me and by the time i find the sound i want, the idea has gone. For the money, am i best to have a look at other synths like various Nord models? Older viruses? Something else?maybe take my wife out for tea with the money I am saving? ...or spend on other hardware...

Thanks for your useful inputs!

virus b,c nord 2 not 2x,jp 8000 ,yamaha An1x superNova etc all good but if you want total intergration i would get a mini nova. sounds better than a TI2 (wait for it!!!) in my opinion

tbh ,,,,,,,,i would go with the mininova over all of them then blow the rest on coke and hookers

I know you recently got rid of your Virus Ti, but are you being serious about the mini nova sounding better than the Ti?

not really , just theres more option out there that are proven and aid inspiration and not leave you frustrated or going into sounds in the greatest of detail to find a sweet spot
music should be fun and the programing of sounds should be fun and flow from a natural feeling....and from my experience with the TOTAL INTERGRATION part i was very disapointed, bad timming, quality of audio over usb and audio dropout all things that i believe totally changed the way i thought and felt about music...for instance lets say your doing something and you have a great idea...ok so you go into the studio and power up.....even before you get sound out of anything the air of dread hanging over you..is it gonnae work. im i going to be here 30 mins from now still trying to get this shit in sync....its not worht it bud

buck for buck , Mini Nova
i still have a virus b so im not Anti Virus
and will watch everything they do . but im not going to stand back on this matter

But this is only my opinion and am also as mad as a box of squirrels

To be honest I've had issues for years with my Virus Snow, but since I got my new computer it just runs absolutely perfect, zero problems (Knocking on wood) right now.
But indeed does the Mini Nova look like a great little synth, now I've checked it out some more.
How cool is it, you can play this thing on your lap while relaxing on the sofa, or you could even bring it with you to work and bang the keys during lunch-break

Same feeling when it comes down to the Virus Ti, its sounds great, but IMO it aint better soundwise compared to say Zebra.
Zebra is even more analogish if you ask me.
But The Virus always sits nice in the mix and i cant live without its phaser.
I am having big issues sometimes with latency, latest OS and crisp computer, might be a problem related to my soundcard but mostly i think its Access faulty usb integration.
I wont give up on getting "zero" latency or sync, its a helluva beast soundwise.

I got to check out the mini nova, Im an old fan of super nova, I still miss my little Blue monster.

If you want to tweak with knobs^^, dont buy Snow its horrible compared to the desktop version, but maybe used virus C or even a virus B.
I still miss my Virus C, it looks hard with its red lights^^

Had a Virus TI Polar, sold it, got a Virus C which I use much more in tracks (the Polar TI was a pain with syncing problems), I make much better patches on it as there is no screen to use (that is a personal issue anyway) and I got the Virus C for 450€...they even go for 350€ nowdays. Bit more expensive than some soft synths. Brilliant deep mod matrix, I love making "un-virus" sounding patches on it.

Mini nova sounds like an old VSTi, and that makes me wonder if I really miss my supernova?...prolly not.
Novation sounds nice, but in terms of VAsynth, old.
Anyhow...Recently fixed alot of sync issues when using the line out instead of USB as output.

Feels way better.

If Mini nova is a contender, id say, go with M-Audio Venom, can be gritty and dirty, and warm.
Did I say cheap?           http://www.beatport.com/release/the-awakening/1180641

I sold my Virus TI when i took a long break from music & it's one of my biggest regrets. I loved it because of the workflow, it just made it so easy, 16 sounds plus effects with all the knobs to tweak right in front of you.

Surprisingly i never had any sync or other issues with mine, was always rock solid for me. As for the sound, i guess it can be replicated with many VSTi's but the TI just made it so much easier.           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

A nice analog synth will create a great contrast with these two, very digital/cold sounding synth you already have.
