I have a simple solution.
If you find an avatar abusive you can do one of two things (or both):
1. tell the person in pm that you find his avatar abusive and ask him if he's willing to remove it.
2. tell the team the same thing.
I'll also check with the team if it's possible to add a no-avatar button for a non-avatar surfing mode.

KKK etc ? =) I`d assume its in jest of course , i dont think theres anyone that fucked up in here , my advice would be to take it with a grain of salt .. i had a cartoon of a dude sniffing coke and got about 7 pm`s requesting me to take it down ..some went further and tried lecturing me , one recalled a story of how life was fucked when he was on it .. lol .. dont be so anal about small photos next to peoples names ..

I totally agree with exotic.
But not only that, I actually find it quite presumptuous how some people assume that everyone has the same negative conceptions and ideas about the nude human body that are actuallty just part of their own religion or culture. Hey just because in your part of the world the nude body is considered taboo and offensive does it mean its the same everywhere else, and it sure doesn't mean you then need to force those ideas on the rest of the world (as much ingrained they may be in your own mind) Haven't we had enough of that already in this world?
I wouldn't oppose the moderators censoring certain avatars that are obviously racist or ill intentioned. Though I agree with mk47 that if somebody here had an avatar of the KKK I would think its a joke and not take it seriously.
But to want to censor the human body and our sexuality is a whole different story because those are the most basic things given to us by nature, and if somebody chooses to express them freely and openly they should not be treated like they did something wrong because those are the basics of life and they don't just belong to a particular religion, culture or world view. Its like somebody telling you that you should cover your eyes because in their culture the act of seeing is a sin. Would you simply agree and put a blindfold on? No! because our eyes are such basics and you can not just give them away for somebody elses belief or prejudice. Our eyes are basics of the human, of what we are, of our humanity. Well so is our nude body and our sexuality! Just aslong as you are not hurting anybody I think you should exercise your basic freedom to the fullest and don't let others with their own limitations confine you.
Because our nude bodies are vulgar? really how offensive to need to subsrcribe to this world view. I think what is vulgar is our own minds, so instead of trying to cover the body rather take away the filter of your own preconceived ideas and all should be fine. Please keep away your prejudice from the naked body and let people be free.
Plus what is going to happen when the people from the Amazon jungle who walk nude decide to join Isratrance? are you going to ask them to dress up before they post a picture of themselves in their avatar? It would be kind of offensive and bigoted if you ask me. Yeah some of them are already getting access to wireless internet, and this is just the beggining:

Keep the forum free from this type of lame censoring. The drug talk limitations are already annoying enough since its a PSY forum (and not the mickey mouse club) though its easier to understand.

PS I understand the problem of browsing isratrance in certain places. Like my problem is that if somebody at work sees the psychedelic avatars of isratrance they will know that I am not working. I guess I just have to not browse Isratrance while I am working.
The only real solution would be what somebody suggested of having the option for each isratrance user to disable avatars if they like. |
