how many countries have the trend where they have a good artist in the night for twisted stuff and then morning full on soundz...

do all the parties happen like thast all over or is it just in bombay and goa.

there must be many countries who hav story attached to the music i.e

night music
twilight stuff
fluffy morning
full on

yes a lot of australian parties have this. it's proper psychedelic journey programming. usually goes something like this..

kick off the party with downbeat or ambient
move into a more progressive and/or minimal sound
build it up, maybe through some tech trance, or maybe not.
get deeper and heavier and faster, into the hard night psychedelic music.
go deeper and more psychedelic until the sky starts getting light.
once the sky is light, heavy transition music - usually full on, layered melodies, heavy bassline.
once the sun comes up, then we go full on, neo full on, melodic, all those sounds. nothing specific, but usually happy and fast.
as the day progresses we slow it down gradually as it heats up, keep the basslines rolling, eventually getting back into progressive sounds.

anyway, that's the rough journey of an australian party. it often changes a bit, with a few different sounds worked in here and there to make a different journey, but it still always provides some kind of journey.

I guess it largely depends upon how big the party/festival is.

If the gig is not very big or only 1-2 DJs are playing then I guess the genre changing is not much.           Discover.Vote.Share() - http://www.beamto.us

i never got the idea of putting fast full on in the morning.... it's too fast and will only stress people further.

but i guess the good old days of partying are long gone.

Cool Topic

I think, you can freely create the flow for a party - some structures will work better than others, but different people like different flow structures. Some want it FAST and HEAVY in the morning, others want it LIGHT and SOFT..... or slow, or psychedelic - or whatever
Its much like creating a DJ set, just a lot longer.

For a party we are putting on later this year, we will go for a 2 floor setup.

Stage 1.:
Progressive Psytrance -> Full On -> Dark Psy

Stage 2.:
Chillout -> Ambient Trance -> Progressive House/Deep Trance.

This will allow of to raise the intensity on Stage 1 to the extreme - While who ever will not like this, can go and enjoy a much softer flow in the late hours on stage 2.

Basicly about flow, its about variation, and keeping the energy but still letting the music evolve and change. (this creates the journey, in conjunction with perhaps a few special themed tracks).

This can be done in different ways, often it depends mostly on the crowd what will work for them and not any general rule. Therefore, having more than just 1 floor, makes this task very much easier.

You cant please everybody with just one stage... Not everybody likes slow music in the morning, not everybody likes fast music in the morning... Only thing people have in common there is, everybody likes music in the morning

From my personal experience when you go toward the progressive realm early in the morning, it kinda loses the energy that dawn brings. Despite being a dark twisted fan, some of my favorite times of a party is dawn. You can see everyone smiling on the dancefloor, most everyone's heavy psychedelics have mellowed out to the point where they can be social and generally visible, it's not that cold outside anymore, and beer for breakfast is great! I do like progressive stuff in the early evenings and in the late morning/early afternoons, where you are keeping the groove, but you've already been worn out from dancing the early morning... I know that my idea of a flow is different from others, and that's ok. When it's all said and done there will always be one or two people that aren't going to like the music or when it's played and there will always be one person that remembers the good old days and very much wants to build a time machine to return to those times. That's ok though because it takes all types of people to make this place interesting... Otherwise we'd be in yuppie land 24/7 and that would suck....

Back to the topic... we do things a little different towards the sf area when it comes to outdoors... There aren't very many prog style djs that play up here and I personally feel that we are slightly lacking that to an extent... ( Imagine full on melodic at 2 in the afternoon) Most of the local djs are into the full on melodic and as such we usually end up hearing it all night and all morning... I've been a few other places around the country and have found more progressive but less of the dark twisted stuff too... I would love it if there was an acurate representation of all psytrance at an event. Don't get me wrong, I love the crazy stuff and usually listen to it in my free time, but I do like the constrast of styles corresponding to the time of day/night....           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

dj jaimz: you are happy people there in australia most of russian parties has no particular order of dj-sets. usually you can easily catch some darkish stuff in the morning hours when you want to hear some uplifting tunes and too tired from heavy flow.           Spiritual guides are to practice and serve in ways that cultivate awareness, empathy, and wisdom.

in my opinion:
a party should start with some dub & ambient
then move to some prog
continue with some kickin full on
and then move to some heavy dark (seroxat etc' for example)
and then some morning full on (vibe tribe etc')
and put the new shpongle disc on the run

For the first time in a while I was able to play a set longer than 2 hours @ a party. It was great to have the power to paint a canvas of mood and sound. I got some prograssive and full on for this event apart from the usual hard night I play.

IMHO I think downtempo to start is perfect and built it into deep prograsssive. Build the progressive into night full on with a few melodic tracks in between and then slow it just a bit into dark twisted night. Build it until the light starts illuminating and then introduce some melodic elements driving pretty hard. Until 11 or 12 and then slow it down to the down tempo... and we are ready for another lap. I think the biggest the variety of the trance spectrum the better... of course try to stay out of the mega cheese

You do not need many DJs for this. IMHO one DJ could easily do half of the trip.

BOM!

a perfect party

100k of sound.

wicked decor (lasers, screens with visuals, LOTS of UV)

Good music (no full on / skazi / chemical crew/ crap)

a really big chill out area. about as big as the main floor.

Shpongle, Hallucinogen and OTT
