^^ agreed. there's some nonsense dark out there that is just noise. i don't know who enjoys that kinda crap. Good dark music is something from another dimension. It flows with such unique rhythm and is so intricate and well composed. a lot people just dont like dark and say it all sounds like noise with no melody....i say bollocks to that.

you really need to listen carefully to good dark and hear what all is going on, dark music truly is maximum psychedelic, no doubt at all about that!!

Others just throw in a bunch of horror movie clips; chainsaws used on people screaming, rape murder and pain.
They throw in some unmelodic sounds at 16th notes, and call it dark/noise psy.
I call it rubbish.
But everyone has their own taste

We agree with you for this specific point. It's funny because before reading this, I was about to put a posting with title "What is the different between Full Psychedelic 'dark' theme music and Full Criminal 'dark' theme music. All about the taste and the source and the purpose. I said once that after active in psytrance scene, I will never look back for the other 'genders', but I am almost wrong 'cuz now I am in the point of overload by it or perhaps by it's scene. So far still not against the richness and the creativity in it, lets see.

Bad and Good music depend on from witch angle of you see them, good for me doesn't always good for others and which ear's you are feeding up?

I don't like pain so I don't enjoy hearing music that expose lots of pain in it. Chaos and pain is not my relegion. If we really want a love and harmony, it's already have done from century's ago, but the pain believe still eagerly trying to control us from behind the curtain, looks at everywhere you go, myspace, movies and even artwork in deviant etc. Is it the live you want dance with? We don't need to be taught what is dark is, we have seen in in everyday live and nature.

...dance like nobody watchin, even just by your self!

I really didn't care for Darkpsy's first release and I have not heard the second release "Silent Noise" on SIN RECORDS.
Other than the artist, what is this Darkpsy stuff all about?Segregation or what?Does dark mean Satan? This labeling system is proving that we are no different than the big Religious Fearing Governmental Corporate Machine's that have had their control issue's scene before the Romans.
Dark matter makes up 72% of the Universe and darkness is just a lighter shade of light.
Light protects the night and darkness rules the day which means a lot and maybe to much reality for some to stomach.
DEFINE what Darkpsy really is besides internal opinions.
Armageddon is a nice description of what dark may sound like,I use it a lot.Its still an opinion.
Higher vibration is a great description for
dark as well.
I recently heard a description called Murder Trance.Kill the bad webs in your brain of the humanity of this World with Murder Trance.Sounds pretty chug@#ing LIGHT to me.....

Try Skazi and Infected Mushroom for starters on this Dark quest for putting the figure on someone. Then pick Twisted for starters on record labels...

I get HIGH on DARK-SIGH (PSY)!

...ok that was lame sorry folks this is the product of a bored mind at work

on a more serious note, echoing Dylalien's post in my interpretation : Light/Dark, Good/Evil, why must we reinforce concepts of duality within this genre, after all, sound/music is the one powerful tool which gives us an opportunity to glimpse beyond this maya. What IT is , is not something relative, but something which is all one, pure mind bendinggg yumm yummmmyyyy psychedeliic!!
dark psy is too general of a term to describe all the sub-genres within. wayyy to broad.

I really like BrainLizzards descriptions of 'dark psy' , higher vibrations and armageddon comes much closer to describing the beauty of destruction which is within this powerful genre.

how about Taandav Trance? Does justice as well

BEware the DarKpSY ComETH! [sure gonna need that flashlight you guys are talking about, help shed some 'light' on this situation! ]

we are all searching for a joy. we are living in the time of quest, so the time will just flow even without a rule. music is just an entertainment for the listener, so pick what bring you a joy!           founder http://www.enkienterprise.com

I can agree to the sense that statistically speaking 97% of any style is crap and there is that 3% of the good stuff, but if someone thinks something is crap, well to them, its just crap. No need to keep drilling the same thing into their noggins hoping for enlightenment. Even if its your passionate preference. People listen how they want to listen to any style.

I'm also starting to dislike the words "dark" and "psychedelic" when it comes to describing music even more then I did when "progressive" was used to describe music that I thought sounded repetitive and anything but its said style. Not to mention only old immortal gurus hidden in esoteric magical caves in Tibet know the TRUE definition of "progressive" electronic music. To the rest of us its a mystery.

With the adjective of "dark" its become even more confusing and relative as to what is considered dark....and even worse what is considered psychedelic so much its fueled numerous public debate. I think i might vomit the next time i see another "my psychedelic can beat up your psychedelic" thread(im probably not alone on this). Or such and such isnt psychedelic. The word itself is so relative to perception that its pointless to argue in terms of an absolute. Patsy Cline might be psychedelic to some...hell anything is when being under the influence of particular substances. The means of perception shapes the data absorbed into the mind and perception as we all know is relative.

For me its easier to describe individual elements then summing up styles. I can say that 16th note basslines that are all the same note tend to bore me. Too much repetition bores me. Squidigy 16th note leads in every track bores me. However I like kicks that are powerful and change a lot. I like basslines that have a strong melodic scale and change. I like tracks that are a journey and have multiple movements...like classical music. I love well composed melodies but I also love well designed non-melodic sounds.

Also more importantly I love music that is both light and dark because i think it represents life more accurately. Life isnt all lollipops and butterflies but its not all eating babies and chopping up grandma for breakfast either. I tend to lean more on balance. I get bored easily too so a change somewhere is refreshing.           Anomaly
