original topic - yes i like some of what's considered dark psy by the majority
chuck norris - 5 ft tall in real life. f'in puny guy.
mars volta - amazing band (coming from a metalhead)
milkshakes - jamocha shake from Arby's?

I don't mind dark psychedelic trance... I'm listening to some now.
I don't like hectic, industrial noise-core that gets labeled "psychedelic" just because it messes with the mind... that's not psychedelic any more than a slasher flick is "psychedelic" |

I had someone tell me that they were into pain fear and chaos but specifically not into unity. Thats what i consider dark everything that is still focused on the positive benefits of the psy community should not be labeled dark in my o-pin.

yes, it's the morbid stuff that misrepresents psychedelic trance, in my opinion. for me this genre of music, this wonderful culture is a sanctuary in the often scary and unjust world. what do the titles such as: "666 The Devil's Floor", "Horror Crime", "Cannibal Holocaust" manifest?
maybe i am being prudent here, but why bring more [subjective] negativity to a fun happy place? death metal bands crossed these lines ages ago, so why pretend like something new is being invented?
work on creativity and innovation in the sound.

NO! Just like i don't like FULL ON! I just like psy and good music. People who go to extremes make me vomit, but that's just me because to others drilling and screaming sounds delightful

I don't like the death metal / punk rock attitude that is completely alien to Goa trance... that a "party" is actually some kind of macho endurace test... muwahahahha... every moment must be faster and harder than the last and giving you tinnitus... or else you are all pussies.
"No flow, no color, no variety of music, and no prisoners!" ideaology sometimes comes with DarkPsy energy - and it ends up dividing or killing some scenes.
Goa is NOT about that and never was for the first 35 years freaks lived there - until the Russian mafia (vibe) took it over. |
