You get all of your music from artists and mastering engineers directly?           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

Can someone at isratrance explain to me why I can't mention the Meridian Lossless Packing codec?

Why delete my posts and threaten me with a ban? yet Pm from an account that I can't reply to? A one way conversation? Where did the fascist attitude come from?

Remember me my dear D2, why were you banned at the first place? And what MLP lossless ( which is mentioned above ) has to do with anything? and not so many people knows this technique of compression! If you would enlighten them / us at the first place there wouldnt be a problem. And you have written CODEC at the last post. So try to behave and help as much as you can. Thank you in advance!

This is a thread about a form of compression vs wav. How is another codec not worthy of the discussion?

What is this editing of my posts rubbish?

This is getting childish now. Is there an adult at istratrance team I can speak with?

There is simply not point to using an mp3 for producing unless you simply HAVE to use that sound and you don't have anything else (even then hopefully it's not planned to be a dominant sound in your track also.

DJing live over a loud PA using mp3's instead of wavs does make an audible difference (please don't do it.)

there is no vs.

mp3 is a COMPRESSED FORMAT. you everytime lose digital information

wav is one of the UNCOMPRESSED formats. like FLAC, AIF. Complete digital information.

Lets think about this subject from this direction...
Majority of the dj's playing in big stages is playing unreleased tracks straight from the producers and very often mastering on these tracks is not as top notchs as it is in released tracks with final master.
But still all the dj's say that they could never play mp3 from big rig since everyone would notice that.

And the difference between converters will usually be a lot more prominent than when comparing a 320kbps to a wav....but we don't get pages and pages of discussion regarding that many CD players used at parties have converter technology which is over a decade old.

But we will keep getting pages of statements along the lines of "mp3's instead of wavs does make an audible difference", but as usual no proof to substantiate the claims.

Probably because there is none and all blind tests I have seen come to the same conclusion, that people cannot tell the difference reliably.

For example you can join in here and show off with being able to do what all other participants so far failed:
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=113877

Why will never one of the persons claiming to be able to tell the difference at least post a WinABX log here?

there has been some very deep technical discussion with some good fact-based arguments here about playing mp3 vs wav.
just coming along and say "dont play mp3" without any technical-based explanation is not only esoteric, its completely ignoring pages of serious discussion.

please bring arguments if you say, "dont play mp3" otherwise it does not add any value to this discussion. its only generating mythical bla bla.

Anyway I agree that converters and mastering are the main reasons where true difference is generated from. Playing selfmastered wav out of a cheap m-audio interface for the wav only surely does not make anything better.

I will say this:

If you gonna play mp3....make sure ALL your tracks are the same kind of mp3.

If you gonna play CD's....ONLY PLAY CD's.

This way....you will have the same level of quality the whole way through (hopefully).

So if you playing MP3's....and the quality is lacking a bit....at least the Sound Technician can make some adjustments and they will stay that way through out your set.

Play them all mixed up....and it WILL be noticable.
