out here ur gonna meet lots of peaceful ppl, with whom u could travel to india by road n rail...its worth the travel..
also if ur gonna jus focous on n.india then apart frm the whole manali circuit, u should visit the Ganges, Varnasi. but the best places to be during the yr end is the south side, like sure_smoke_alot said..
but ur gonna get to BKK so no worries of missin out on major action in india...
