I'm planning a long stay at some reasonably priced good ashram nearby the hills. Does anyone have any info about some good ashrams nearby the himalayas?
I just found one.

Want to research more before starting off. Please advice about places you have been to and stayed for a couple of days. I need info about the rates they charge too.
Basically, I am looking for ashrams offering long term residential programs. Not weekly or monthly courses.

brother, i personally haven't gone and stayed in the ashram over there. but i do practise sivananda yoga at the ashram in Ny, very good energy coming from these people...... im glad you'll get your dose of Karma Yoga......
and believe me, sivananda ashram would be the best bet because this is pure old traditional Hatha yoga
Enjoy......

This section of the forum is so ill moderated. I couldn't refrain from saying it!
I had created a topic titled "Himalayan ashrams.." in the India section. Some moderator merged the topic in this thread, without even sending me a PM. This is ridiculous. I wasted 3 hours of my time searching for my topic and finally found it here.
P.S. : Hello MOD,
I am not a traveller to India. Neither did i mention anything in my topic about travelling to India. I am an Indian and looking for information on ashrams near the himalayas. The title of this thread is "24-hour hotline for travellers to India". Why was my topic merged here?
Whenever you move/merge topics, make sure that you send a PM to the author. Hope that doesn't put an extra burden on you. LOL

hello. will b going to goa ( not sure where yet)around april-may. planning to study ayurveda. the centers offer stay in programs, but i will have to rent a house, couse we are 2 adults and the baby. the question is: hows the renting prices there for a simple house. plus a minimum amount a person can spend on food and transport per day.
Ive been there in 2005 but know how much things have changed since then, so i would b happy if any of u can help me with some info or some links.

Thanks guys. Its Goa and Gokarna. 30th night in Goa..head 31st morning to Gokarna..stay there till 2nd and then back in Goa for 2 days.
Any idea about staying in Gokarna?? I couldnt find any "budget" hotels online. Do you think its a good idea to just go there and find a place? Especially around new years?
